| It had been a day since Chiaki died. The news broke the same day she was found, and the day after that the case was considered closed. That was today. Everyone said it was a suicide. The teachers, the authorities, the headmaster even held an assembly for those who wished to hear about it yesterday evening. It wasn't right. It was way too fast. Kyo knew there was something wrong with this. He didn't believe that Chiaki would have killed herself from everything he had heard. Her family was told, and they hadn't even had the funeral yet. Her body was still in the morgue, off campus.
Then again, he knew this was going to happen. So right after he worked on the problem yesterday morning with getting the students into the building and away from her body, he had already started. He wanted to find out exactly what happened. He had students he taught and trained this year, who he went to for help, and they agreed to help him out: Alexia Takana would let some people into the Police Station, and Setsuna Yu would let them into the morgue. However, the funeral was only a couple days away. He needed help to find everything and figure it all out before that happened. What better place to do it but at Hope's Peak Academy, a place full of talented souls, people who knew the victim, who had a personal stake in the matter? The time for evidence was already closing up. Whoever did this could easily have covered it up by now, but it was worth a shot.
Kyo Tsukino secretly slipped notes to people he trusted. To students he trusted that he knew would want to help him. Come to the Biology Lab if you want to find out what really happened to her. That's what every one of his notes said. There weren't a lot of students he invited, but he knew he had to keep it quiet. If the school found out, well, he would get in trouble, possibly lose his job, and lose his usefulness to the Future Foundation. Well that last one was less likely to happen, but he was still afraid of it. Regardless, he was here, risking his job and everything he worked for this last more than a decade at this point (and no, he wasn't old, god damn it, he wasn't going grey, he checked!) in order to pursue justice.
And of course, this would help with recruitment into the Future Foundation later too. Kyo was a scouter for the Future Foundation, an organization whose function was changing, but it was founded by the founder of Hope's Peak. The foundation was always something to protect hope, similar to the Illuminati. However, recent recruits rose ranks quickly, founding a 'new' more 'active' Future Foundation. Truly, before the Future Foundation was a secret organization, but thanks to Munakata, the foundation as slowly becoming less and less secret…
Not that anyone attending Hope's Peak knew about it yet, of course.
Regardless, Kyo was getting off-track. He was a rambler at times. He waited until people filed in, nervous, wondering if anyone would come. Wondering if he would get caught. If they would get caught. He wanted to show everyone that there was hope, that they did not have to just lay down and take the lies the school fed them. He wanted to show these people there was hope, and together they would figure it out. He wanted to show these people there was hope, and not let the killer run free having murdered a beautiful young woman. He wanted to show these people there was hope, and despair wouldn't win.
That was all well and good. Kyo was a bit of an idealist at times. It didn't go over so well when he told the higher ups of the Future Foundation. Which was why he was at the front of the Biology Lab (now empty thanks to the lack of biology labs at this time) with a bruised up nose. He was pretty sure the arrogant jerk of a new guy broke it. Just because he was higher in rank than Kyo because he was friends with Munakata didn't mean he was better. Kyo had far more experience. But he held his tongue and didn't fight back. He took the punch because that jerk was a higher rank than him. it was his place to do so.
Ah well, in the end, the boss gave him permission to do it, but he would have to be careful. After all it was smarter than sending members all snooping around, or all their covers would be broken. This way, Kyo was the only one at risk. If they discovered him, it was only him. There were still others in place in the school to continue on and he would end up going abroad for his assignments instead. He would be separated from his brother. The students involved, well, they wouldn't get in trouble. He wouldn't let them. He would take all the blame for them. In the end, if they figured out who did it, Kyo agreed to bring the culprit to the Future Foundation for punishment. No authorities. Munakata insisted on it. And so it became.
Kyo touched his nose and winced slightly as he waited, wondering exactly what he would tell these students.

Why do things like these happen?
But no matter what happens, one must press on. Words: 254 | Tag: @username | Notes: notes here A lot of things happened yesterday. Daniel would prefer not having to think about the fact that the 2nd years had one less classmate. But that was life.
The Procrastinator knew that life was fleeting. One day you're alive, the next you're dead. But he shook his head in order to get the nihilism out of his head that was creeping up to him.
When he returned to his dorm, and he dressed into his casual clothing, he noticed that a note slipped out from his uniform's pants.
He read through the note. It said: "Come to the Biology Lab if you want to find out what really happened to her."
The Biology Lab. Crap. That was on the 5th floor, wasn't it? Daniel dreaded Biology classes. Not because he disliked the teacher or thought they were boring. It was because the Bio labs were so high up.
The Procrastinator gulped once and ascended to the 5th floor, making his way to the labs. When he arrived, he knocked twice on the door to make his presence known.
"Excuse me? I'm coming in now, okay?", he said as he entered.
When he entered, he saw a blue-haired adult there. Daniel recognized this man, as he was a substitute teacher before.
"Oh, Mr. Tsukino?", he said. "I found a note asking me to be here. I'd like to know just what happened. Is it okay for me to remain here with you? Just to see who else comes here too."
And the waiting game began.

Willow Chapter 1: Friendship is Magic and Other Occult Secrets
Chiaki dying was a game changer. In a few different ways.
1: It destroyed the assumption that everyone, even Willow, had that the Academy was safe. The trickster had grown complacent. He assumed that this was simply his apprenticeship and that it wouldn't be until he graduated from Academy that things got messy. However after Chiaki took a tumble off the roof, unlikely to be an accident and even more unlikely that it was a suicide, circumstances shifted utterly. Willow wasn't preparing for the big game, he was already in it.
2: It was a tragic event in and of itself. This was a precious life made more despair inducing by what a positive influence she was on the school. She brightened even the most somber of student's days. Grief stricken people didn't act particularly rationally, so people were bound to make choices in the next couple of days that would effect their lives for the short term at least and probably the long term.
3: Adrianna's positive reaction was fairly troubling. Not because he judged it particularly. Whatever attracted people was none of his concern, as long as they didn't do anything actually immoral. But showing her appreciation for corpses openly was another thing. Discretion was the better part of valor. If the public knew she was studying the occult and had a fetish for corpses she very well may be burned as a witch.
5: Hoshi was an unknown factor. He seemed quite angered by the death. As stated above grief does odd things to people. If Hoshi wanted vengeance he might relay on vigilante methods. Something to keep an eye on.
4: Nagito was an unpredictable factor. The boy had lost his girlfriend and he had been a strange and fragile youth already. Grief did odd things to a person. Even more so someone like Nagito. And he had seen her corpse. A failure on Willow's part though an understandable one. He had been too focused on getting out of there and not paying attention to the gossip of the crowd, he should have held onto the boy more roughly. But there was no putting the genie back into the bottle.
5: The school was going to keep this quiet. That was inevitable. They couldn't have this coming out. Willow more or less understood this. Causing panic among the general population and ruining HPA's reputation were undesirable outcomes.
6: The culprit had to be caught anyway. Willow would solve the case if he had to do it on his own.
Knowing those six things the trickster headed into class. It wasn't long before he felt someone slip the envelope into his jacket. Interesting. He read it privately the first chance he got. Biology Lab and you will find out more huh? Could be a trap, could be an internal investigation or a student investigation. He would prefer himself for any scenario and head to check it out. He needed more information. One way or the other.

That mask you hide behind will make you feel confined. You can choose to sleep on it,
but soon you'll find it comes back to haunt the reality you're so afraid to face. The Con Artist wore a mask that day. Just like the times of old.
Hoshi had discovered the slipped letter pretty quickly, and it goes without saying that he jumped at the offer as quickly as a starved snake pounced prey. That night, after making sure to have locked his door, pulled shut his curtains and blinded the peephole with black tape, he went to the corner of his room and opened a trapdoor on floor. Pulling out a silver briefcase, he entered the 5-digit code to release the hatch (which was the date of Miyo’s birthday of course, which was admittedly not really a secure password), pulling it open to reveal its contents – an assortment of grenades, ripe for the picking. Taking a flash grenade out of its shock-proof compartment, he placed it on a desk next to where two sharpened daggers laid in wait.
He fell asleep that night with those various assortment of tools being the last sight he saw, and woke this morning with them still fresh in mind. One could have called it careless how he kept it out in the open, but Hoshi was more anger than caution right now, and keeping them like that kept the fuel going. Donning his hoodie, he slipped those things into the pockets he had sewn inside, pulling on his mask before stepping out the door. Ignoring the few hushed whispers and glances thrown his way, he sulked through the corridors as he made his way towards the Bio lab.
‘Screw those people,’ thought Hoshi. ‘No way she killed herself. Fucking Hope’s Peak’s just trying to limit their bad publicity.’
Taking out one of his phones, he checked on the tasks that he set for his lackeys. He had called all 12 of them for an impromptu meeting last night at one of the gambling centers they ran, asking them to come into the room way back at the end of the hall. There he asked them to find out what the hell had happened, dropping all current projects till they got to the end of this. And while there were a few protests here and there, Hoshi wasn’t taking no for an answer, and he sent them off into the night like the diligent pack wolves they were.
Not like there were any important updates from them as of yet though.
Soon finding himself at Hope’s Peak’s fifth floor, he stopped to gaze through the window on his left. From where he stood, he could just about make out the roof where him and her first met. His eyes glazed over, and a part of him wondered if it really was a suicide. If she really did jump. Because while she’s the last person he would have expected to do so, there’s always that tiny whispering chance.
But he shook his head and trudged on. Stupid thoughts. There’s no way.
Making his way deeper into the fifth floor, Hoshi felt in him a craving for a drink. But not here, not now. ‘When this is all over,’ he thought, ‘I’ll open a bottle as a toast. But first I gotta bash the face in of whoever did this.'
Grasping the knob to the door, the masked figure stepped through to the other side.

Lucca was...out of it. After yesterday, with all the commotion, Lucca just kinda shut down. The shock of seeing a dead body was too much for him. He didn't go to class, he didn't answer his sister's calls, he just...sat in his dorm room.
It was strange that he feels so distraught over this, after all, he didn't even know Chiaki all that well. But just the thought of a life with so much ahead of it, so many things left to experience, being taken away like that. It was a feeling Lucca had known all too well. Sure there were rumors going around that it was a suicide, but Lucca felt like there was something more going on.
Lucca's stomach growled, he hadn't eaten in a while, his appetite had escaped him. He got up from his bed and put on some clean clothes. He reached for the doorknob and noticed something on the floor. It was a piece of paper. Lucca knelt down and picked it up, reading it as he straightened up his posture.
"Come to the biology lab if you want to find out what really happened to her." Lucca wasn't sure what to make of it. It could be just a fake, made by some asshole trying to get to him. But what if it was real, Lucca had to take that chance.
A loud growl came from his stomach again. "Maybe I should get some food first." Lucca made his way out of his dorm and towards the cafeteria, picked up a couple of donuts and started heading up to the fifth floor.
He stood at the door to the Bio lab. Lucca took the last bite of his last donut and wiped his hands clean. He slowly opened the door, unsure of what would be on the other side. The door opened and Lucca immediately saw Mr. Tsukino.
"H-Hi Mr. Tsukino. I'm guessing you were to one who gave me that note."
Lucca looked around and saw a few familiar faces in the room already, Willow, Daniel, Hoshi. "Alright, I guess the note was legitimate, so now I guess we just wait..."

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you. Just sitting next to someone is rude, I think."
. . .
Why? How could something like this happen?
It'd only been a day, but it felt like an eternity. It was like watching the sky fall ever so slowly. Eventually, it'd land on him, and he couldn't do anything but watch. The school shook, with constant talk about what happened the previous morning. Some people tried to figure out why someone like Chiaki would jump. Others spread rumors that she was.. a victim.
As soon as he was able to get back to his dorm, Chihiro locked the door, and shut the blinds. He couldn't go out there. With everyone talking about the death of his friend.. He couldn't stand it. All day and night, he hid himself under his covers, trying and failing to keep himself together. The only person he could bear talking to was his father, who promptly called as soon as news escaped the academy walls.
Did she really... I should have noticed something.. anything...
It was like an endless cycle of grieving, and self loathing. If she really did end.. End herself, then what kind of friend was he? If he spent time with her, he should have noticed. Told someone, talk to her. And now she was gone. She was.. Was...
A sound by the door finally snapped him out of that pit. It was the first time in hours that his surroundings began to exist within his world again. Taking the covers off his head, he looked over to the door to see a small piece of paper had been slipped under it. Wiping his eyes, he got out of the bed on shaky legs, walking over to it. Before he even knelt down, the programmer could read what was on it.
The biology lab.. wh-what happened to her. Her.
Already, his eyes stung again. The world blurred through painful tears. What did it mean? Why would someone give this.. To someone like him? The only reason he could imagine was that.. simply because he knew her.
Picking up the note, he went to sit on his bed, reading it over and over again for several minutes, contemplating what he should do. Just reading it created a cloud of anxiety over his head. This couldn't have been good, but.. Chihiro couldn't accept letting the mystery behind the letter continue for long. What else could he accomplish at the time.
It took him twice, maybe three times as long to get ready. He was slow, buttoning up his shirt, strapping on the suspenders for his skirt. Part of him was afraid to. Stepping out that door would bring it all back again. He was afraid, his heart remaining irresolute as he walked up the stairs to the fifth floor. His hands were clammy as he approached the door to the lab. But he had to do this.. He had to at least see what this was.. If not for himself, for her...
Walking into the room, his hands were laced tightly against his chest. He felt his legs, shaking as if they were just twigs holding his weight. He recognized only one of them. Kyo, who he somewhat knew as a teacher. The rest were strangers.
"H... Hello.."
His puffy red eyes retreated to the floor. He felt like their eyes were piercing into him. He wanted to run. He wanted to retreat to his bed and never come back out. He had to do this, though. That's what he kept telling himself.
"I g-got.. letter.. Said to c-come here..."

Nagito Chapter 1 cont: Slings and Arrows- Unlucky awakening
Nagito woke up suddenly. Strange. He recalled going to bed earlier then usual the night before. These last couple of weeks he had spent time up later playing games at Chiaki and just talking and having fun. Maybe she had simply been feeling off? Perhaps she had come to her senses and dumped him. A sad thought but also a bit of a relief. Or possibly it was him that couldn't attend. Had he felt too sick the night before? Too sick to pretend to be otherwise. He did remember crying yesterday and that-
Oh!
Oh.
That's right. Chiaki had died. Nagito had seen the corpse himself. How silly of him to have forgotten.
"I really am human slime." Nagito whispered to himself, "To have forgotten my girlfriends death. I am an utterly worthless person."
Nagito got up and got dressed. He had failed on almost every level as a person already today, he could at least meet bare minimum for being a student. He walked to class feeling completely numb. Even last night when he cried himself to sleep it hadn't quite hit him. Chiaki dead? It had seemed so impossible only two nights ago. Yet now...she was gone forever.
He wished it had been him instead. Why did talented, good people die over and over again while scum like him continued to draw breath? It wasn't right. He was at the lowest point of the lowest human class. An utterly untalented, sickly, self righteous human who only hurt others. If he were a more noble person he probably would have hung himself by now.
But he still clung to Hope, despite Hope never clinging back. Nagito wanted to be a part of bringing an Ultimate Hope to fruition. One that could elevate all of humanity to a happy future. During class nobody truly understood why he came to class the next day after finding his girlfriend dead. That was fine. Of course they could never understand how to feel useless like him, they were all so much better and higher then him.
Chiaki's death changed nothing about his objective. He still needed to see Hope blossom.
Then he got the message. Finding more out about Chiaki's death? This would be perfect. The hope of discovering what had happened to his beautiful Chaiki swelled in his heart. He would do it for her. Somehow he would solve it all for her.
Nagito headed up to the biology lab, a serene smile on his face. Yes, even in Chiaki's death there was hope. Beloved, precious Hope. Whatever feeble hope or sickly despair the murderer had in his heart would be crushed in the end. Nagito knew it.
A small involuntary giggle emerged from himself. Even this. Yes even this Despair would be a stepping stone for a truly monumental Hope.
He was pleasantly surprised to see Willow and Daniel among the students present. And was that gentle Chihiro? One of Chiaki's best friends! It was wonderful to see them all her.
"Hello everyone. It's truly wonderful to see you all. If you don't mind me asking...how are we going to find out what happened to Chiaki?" Nagito said, with a friendly smile. It wasn't as intense a smile as it usually was. It looked tired and sad. Yet in spite of everything, he was still smiling.

Life was but a fleeting blink of an eye. Emiko knew this, it was an uncomfortable fact of life many feared but all were forced to accept that we were walking talking grains of sand falling to the bottom of an hourglass before we returned to the gods to meet our fate. And yet the priestess couldn’t help but feel some pangs of…regret in her chest when the news of a young woman’s apparent suicide made her way towards the church. It was kind of odd in a way, people died every second of every day, she had never met the young miss Nanami and still…it was weird. And a note slipped under the door to her church to meet in the bio lab she would admit had her curiosity, and after making sure her sister was with her little friend Tomoe and making it quite clear she was to stay there, the priestess went up to the fifth floor and entered the science lab as elegantly as one could under such dire circumstances
"Ah..."
There were people. Nobody that she knew right off the top of the head but truth be told unless they were family, good friends or people who came to her church on a regular basis then Emiko had a hard time placing names to faces. Still, looking around at the faces of the people who were before her, Emiko did the one thing she could think of to do in trying times such as these: She put her hands together and bowed deeply at the occupants of the bio lab (who better not mess anything up or Nori will be pissed fyi)
"May the gods bless us all during these trying times."
It was all she could think of to say, hopefully that didn't seem too unsympathetic or insincere. You offer someone condolences sometimes and people always accuse you of lots of false things just to make you upset.

| When the procrastinator walked in Kyo was a little worried. He'd think Daniel would be the last one to arrive and come in right as he was starting to speak, but he was the first one. For a moment he thought that no one else was coming. That the people he thought cared about Chiaki Nanami were content to accept the lies of the school. But then more people started to come and that made Kyo breathe a sigh of relief. He had sent out more notes than this, but he figured some wouldn’t come. As long as the notes weren't traced back to him, which was why he didn't put his name on them in the first place, he would be alright and the people here would be alright.
"Ah I see quite a few came. To be honest I was worried for a moment," Kyo said with a slight nervous laugh. Right now they didn't need him to be the rigid sort of leader, they needed him to be confident, but also someone they could talk to who was going through the inner turmoil they were, someone who understood what they were going through even if he was just a teacher, and the leader of this rag tag investigation team. "Anyways, you all know why we're here, and I have a plan. I can't do it on my own so that's why I gathered you all here."
And he couldn't. But, he could help them all figure it out. When they found out who it was, he knew that it wouldn't be public and only these people would know who killed their friend. The person who did it… well Kyo mostly united his main suspects and the people he could trust together. "I have set up a way to figure it all out. The evidence will be cleaned up, and whoever… killed Chiaki Nanami may have had time to cover up their murder. However, I know that we can do it. Justice will prevail. There are a few places I have set up so we can take a look there. You all will split up into teams of at least two and investigate some areas. I have a master key for the bedrooms, and afterwards, you'll have to return them to me. If anyone finds you looking around, you cannot let them know what you are doing. The school is covering this up, and they will put a stop to you. If they get wind of this, they'll make sure to hide everything completely. One group should head to the police station. Walk in and my helper will find you. Another groups should go to the morgue. Chiaki is there right now. I was able to distract the head mortician. There you will see Setsuna Yu, a second year mortician, who will let you look around. A third group should check out the headmaster's office. I have a key to his office, and I'll give it to those who want to look around. The school knows more than they are letting on, and he'll have it in there. Finally, a group should check out the scene of the crime. The roof. There might be something up there to give us clues to what happened the night before last."
Kyo was standing straight and looking with a look of determination. "We can't stand idly by and let a killer run around the school unsupervised. Chiaki's murderer needs to be brought to justice. Once we explore those four rooms, and the dorms, we'll meet back up here where we will compare evidence and figure out who did it. At that time, the killer will be brought to justice. I have friends who will help take in the killer." Reaching under a desk he pulled a stack of tablets, enough for everyone here and a couple extras for those he thought would come but didn't. "Here is where the mortician's official report is held. You can make notes on these as well and record information and evidence you find. There's cameras in order to take a picture of the evidences you find as well." Kyo took out a key chain full of keys. "These keys will allow you inside any dorm room. If you take one and I don't get it back, I will hunt you down." He was being really serious, and anyone who had taken a class with him knew that he could fight and if he really wanted to hurt someone he would. "You can't make copies because of how the keys are made, so don't even think about it." He laid the keys out on the front desk next to the tablets. "I cannot stress this enough. Do not let anyone know what you are doing. If you do, Chiaki's murderer will go free." His expression went dark, and despite his probably broken but at least bruised nose, he looked quite serious. "We have to keep hope that we will win. Please help me bring this killer to justice. Keep hope that justice will prevail, that the good will win, and together we'll honor Nanami's memory."

The last day had been a haze for Yuukyoku. After seeing Chiaki's body she just walked back to her room, slowly and sluggishly, finally just flopping down on her bed. She laid there for hours. The Super High School Level Gamer. The one of legend that would beat all of her games so quickly, that she finally got to meet after all this time. The relationship between Gamer and Game Designer on an Ultimate level.
And that bond was broken now. Forever.
There were others that knew her better, but there were few people that knew Yuukyoku as well as someone who had so thoroughly played through her works.
She laid there, unmoving, for hours. She couldn't muster the energy to eat. She couldn't muster the energy to work. She couldn't muster the energy to sleep. Doing anything that took her mind off of what had happened was too much effort, but still. Slumber overtook her eventually.
Waking up she stood up. Even though she had been out for a while, the fatigue was still present on her mind and body. Looking around her room she saw a piece of paper that was slipped under her door. Perhaps it was some notice of classes cancelled she had already missed. Picking it up it was clear that wasn't the case. The words and meaning were simple. Go to the Biology Lab to find out what happened.
Checking the time it looked like it was getting close. She almost missed it and would probably be late, but it was still worth going. Finding out who did this would be... important for catharsis.
Slowly she made her way there, not rushing despite her short time to get there, making it in to the room as Kyo was explaining things. If she had been that late to an actual class he might have a bit angry, but in all honesty Yuukyoku looked terrible. She just found a place out of the way to stand and listen to the rest of what he said.

Hands in pockets and back against a wall, he barely responded when the other started filling into the room, save for turning to give a nod to Daniel and Willow, as well as the green-haired girl that bowed when she walked in. ‘So this is the team that man assembled, huh?’ Hoshi thought, gaze travelling from one student to another. While he had no doubt about Willow’s potential contribution towards their efforts, the same couldn’t be said for some of the more timid-looking of the group. Namely the short brunette that stuttered just saying hello, but if Hope’s Peak had taught him anything, it’s to not underestimate anybody there. They’re students here for a reason, after all.
"Hello everyone. It's truly wonderful to see you all. If you don't mind me asking...how are we going to find out what happened to Chiaki?" the sickly-looking, pale guy asked. “We’re waiting for him to get started,” Hoshi responded, nodding towards where Kyo stood. “Guess there’s still a few more of us who haven’t showed up yet.”
Not soon afterwards the man had started to speak, his tone a semi-professional sort of friendliness. Hoshi stood as still as a statue as he listened to Kyo’s speech, only showing a slight reaction when investigation talk about the place she and him first met came up. Despite himself, Hoshi clicked his teeth and clenched his fists just a little bit harder. It’s just fucking irony that it became the scene of the crime, huh?
After the tablet and keys were brought out, (as well as the talk of not being able to make copies, which he has to admit was a little bit disappointing,) Hoshi spoke up, asking him a question.
“Have you already paired us off with one another, or do we get to pick and choose? And I call dibs on the roof.”

No, praying to an invisible deity for guidance and grace seemed so utterly…useless. Where was the symbolism in there? Sending your unheard thoughts into empty space? Your voice wasn’t resonating through the church and mingling within the pipes of a worn organ, the response would not come as a booming clap of thunder raining that unforgotten perdition, and…and…
And despite all that, the Librarian was tucked neatly into a pew, their eyes hazily floating around as they followed the preacher. Green-hair and true hope, like…something out of Greek mythology. Emiko Nakazawa was the perfect example of a character, ready for her arc to be birthed forth into the world and her journey to begin. Her story would be one for the ages! A classic, an epic, an overarching lesson! It would be absolutely…wondrous. Paris promised themself that Emiko would find her beginnings in a small adventure novel tucked neatly into the rows of books organized by the great Melvil Dewey himself.
But what was this? As a basket was passed hand to hand, the man next to Eins thrust the weaved box into her hands, abruptly standing up and slinking out quickly. What a suspicious character…would his arc end in a tragedy? Was he an allegory for the…anonymity of the modern world? …No, Paris thought. He’s more than a story. We’re more than stories.
Their gaze fell downward into the basket, hand poised to drop a couple dollars in and pass it along. But…there was a note, tucked neatly into the middle. So with a glance left and right, Paris plucked the paper out and passed the collection along, unraveling the paper hurriedly.
"Come to the Biology Lab if you want to find out what really happened to her."
It came flooding back to the Librarian like a tidal wave. Chiaki Nanami’s twisted corpse, the jacket, the blood…the mystery, panic, fear…Lucca’s face, lifeless for the first time in possibly forever. Nagito, Hoshi, Adrianna, Florence…all varying expressions that they wore like Halloween masks. The reason she had begun to attend sermons was to find some kind of…peace, or sensibility in the death of the girl. For the first time, the deeper meanings of literature had failed to explain away the violent death of an innocent girl who wandered into the library at times and fell asleep.
Was Paris sad?
…No, not quite.
Paris was angry.
The school had failed that girl. They’d failed every last student as the peace was violated, and they haphazardly taped the pieces together rather than working to repair it. They were not to be trusted. Blood had been spilled like wine, but some were not so easily intoxicated by lies. It was the ultimate conspiracy. Maybe they’d been watching her through her various devices…or they had kept careful watch through the technology that HPA felt oh-so-necessary to install with every budget increase. But why did she, of all people, have to die?
Why?
Why?!
Before they knew it, the Librarian’s feet had dragged them from the seat and toward the door, with muttered apologies to those around them.
x-x-x
The Bio Lab had already filled as Paris entered, panting from the effort of running to the Fifth Floor. Even Lucca had make it there first...Normally, they would have embraced him. But now, Paris could only stand there, frozen, and gaze at him coldly. “Mr. Tsukino…i-it’s good to s-see you again, but n-not under these abho—abho—bad conditions…”
And then, more forcefully:
“What are we going to do about this? Th-This school should burn for what they’ve…d-done.”

Killed.. Chiaki Nanami.
In an instant, his blood ran as cold as ice. Chihiro had kept near the back of the room, but even with some distance between him and the others, he could notice a feeling in the air. Of sorrow. And anger. His eyes spotted the whitening knuckles of a masked man as Kyo continued. Meanwhile, the programmers' trembled. The teacher spoke at lightnings pace, and he had no choice but to bear every word. He knew what this meeting was about now. They were going to try to find a culprit to the murder of Chiaki's murder. But... that was just...
"I-Impossible.." His eyes began to well up again. Tears, like acid, slowly dripping down his cheek. He's had to deal with some bad things over the years. But, bullying, no matter how bad, could never compare to this. A conversation, suggesting that his friend was murdered. The idea was sickening. It made him want to hide under his covers and never come out. Why? Why would they think something so.. awful. So cruel? "Th-There can't be.. There can't be anyone in th-this school who would.. No one. She just... sh-she.. Ch-.. Chiaki... j.." His voice had slowly risen from a whisper, to a normal tone.
He thought. His brain like an overheating engine. All this was too much. What was he suggesting. That she really did jump? The meek boy accepted that reality until now, even if it also seemed impossible. She didn't seem like the person who would do that. All this time, he just sat in agony, believing he was simply blind to whatever signs she may have given. But, in truth, he could never imagine her being at the point where she'd jump.
This was a paradox. And unstoppable force had just hit an immovable object. Chihiro couldn't fathom her being murdered, nor see her jumping off the roof of her own free will. So much ran through his mind, that he couldn't stand on his own legs anymore. Falling to his knees, he looked down, tears beginning to patter against his skirt, leaving damp spots.
"Who c-could.. possibly want to hurt her.." The programmer choked out, between sniffles. The entire display was just a true show of weakness. He could hardly face reality. Hardly.. but not enough to completely reject it. Words: 389 | Sorry if this is a bit hard to write for.

The Gods of course, were with them. He always felt them in his prayers, in nature, when he cast his spells, during simple daily activities. The world was divine every inch of it. Willow wondered vaguely what Gods Emiko worshiped. He was aware of the priestess, but didn't currently know much about her religion. Given her awkward appearance, Willow guessed she was feeling a bit insecure about her ability to comfort here. Or at least to start the comforting process. The trickster decided to give her a helping hand.
"Myself and Ms. Katushiro, I believe are in agreement here. Religious well wishes can seem insincere, especially to those who aren't themselves faithful. Still I hope for those who knew her better it will came as some comfort that she is in the minds of others tonight. And that people of faith are devoting something they take very seriously to her. " Willow said. His eyes sweeping to Daniel, Hoshi and Nagito in particular. They all seem to have been touched deeply by the death of Chiaki, and as people he knew a bit better...it gave him an even deeper grief then he thought to see their suffering. Willow had truly made friends here.
All life must pass. Chiaki had entered the cycle of reincarnation now, or else become a spirit watching over them. Her soul would never truly leave them. He breathed and starterd again.
"My sincerest regards to those who had been more personally touched by this incident. I did not know Chiaki Nanami well but I did see in her a gentle and kind soul. A beacon of hope to those around her. I expect the reason why I was invited was because I am an intelligent and capable individual who is of a curious enough nature to want to find out who the killer is. However do not make any mistakes. I am devoted to justice for Chiaki. If any gathered here now are responsible for her death...I will not hesitate to out you." Willow said, he once again took stock of those gathered.
Any one of them could be the murderer, but to see their grief stricken faces so filled with despair...it was hard to imagine any of them killing. Still though something was off about Nagito. His eyes had an odd light dancing in them. Unusual to see in the eyes of a person mourning their loved one. Still everything else, the strained smile, the hunched shoulders, the sloppy way he had gotten dressed this morning...it was all indicative of genuine grief. Could he be faking it? Maybe...but Nagito wasn't the sort to tell lies. Willow very much doubted he was good at deception.
Still, he could be wrong...and those eyes of his. Willow would have to observe him more closely from now on
Next came the matter of partners. Nagito would be a good option. The boy seemed quick on the uptake and was quite a helpful sort. However Nagito wasn't entirely erased from his suspect list. And quite frankly both himself and Nagito were likely looking suspects from the others point of view. The significant other of the deceased was usually a good bet, and Willow was a trickster that was suspicious on the best of days.
He needed someone utterly innocent looking. Not a complete dullard, as he expected the actor to be, but not someone too smart either. Willow needed someone he could plant ideas into if need be. So that he wouldn't be the only one defending himself if it came down to that. A person unlikely to have committed the murder and unlikely to be the suspect.
"If it's alright with you Daniel, and with the others. I would like to cast my lot in with the Procrastinator. " Willow said, leaning back against the wall. The game was about to begin, and as despair inducing as it was...it was also quite fun. Matching hope against despair often was for Willow.
And this was not a game he intended to lose.

Why do things like these happen?
But no matter what happens, one must press on. Words: ### | Tag: @username | Notes: notes here Quite a few people showed up. A few from his year, then some kouhais and senpais.
Daniel naturally listened intently to what Mr. Tsukino had to say to the class. Figure out the mystery of Chiaki's death without calling attention to the school, or anyone else.
So this was going to be a stealth mission like in most video games, and if he was caught, he'd have to lie about why he was there, especially with the master keys to the bedrooms...
Willow then asking to team up with Daniel was just the thing he needed, then. If they were caught, Willow could just make up a believable lie, and the investigation could continue.
The Procrastinator figured that Willow would make a valuable ally if push came to shove. Besides, the two of them not only have classes together, but they also met outside of school at least twice before, and they got along well, or so Daniel at least figured.
He then saluted and said calmly: "Aye aye, sir." Even though everyone was feeling pure despair, the Procrasinator tried his best to cheer everyone a little up.
"As much as it pains me to say, but mourning Chiaki here and now won't bring her back, or the culprit closer to us. It's up to us now.", he stated. He didn't say it in a mean-spirited way. He was just saying what was the truth to him.
