It was the first day. The first day of Lucca's new job.
It was a stroke of luck that there was an opening at the local fast food place. Though acting was his main job, he had taken it upon himself to find a way to relate to the new role he had just gotten. And it just so happens the role he's in is a worker at a fast food restaurant, and Lucca wanted to see just how stressful it can be.
He could barely sleep the night before, and he was exhausted. That morning he had dressed up in his new uniform. It was bright red, and honestly, very gross to look at. But nevertheless he put it on and started walking to work. The place wasn't that far a walk from his dorm in Hope's Peak, only being about 10 minutes.
He walked in and punched himself in, put his stuff in the break room and got behind the register. "Welcome to Quik Chik, how may I help you?"

Science is the Poetry of Reality Ah yes, such a fine day to be out and about, only Root was stuck in his off campus lab at the moment. He was making breakthrough after breakthrough, and hadn't even slept the night before. But his mind was racing so fast he had no time to rest. He ripped papers off his wall, stuck new paper full of equations on his wall, threw his notebook a couple times in frustration and he paced back and forth. Finally, he stopped pacing and looked away from his wall. He needed to… do something to boost his brain power. He needed to take a break or he was going to die, he could feel the weight beginning to weigh down on his mind. Taking a deep breath, Root walked outside of his lab, and looked around. Food. Food would help. Mariko liked food too. Maybe he needed to eat. When was the last time he ate? He didn't remember. Luckily, his lab wasn't too far from Hope's Peak itself and so he was able to share the outside food choices that being around a school offered.
Root didn't care where he went, and so he walked a short distance before entering one of the fast food places. Food. What food would he want? Root approached the counter and looked up at the menu. Then back down at the register. Standing there was none other than Lucca Bello. Seeing as Root's family had ties into the arts (who would've guess that with his sister a director and his mom a deceased author, and his dad an undisclosed profession which probably would end up being an artsy sort of occupation as well), he knew Lucca Bello, a rising star in the acting industry. He was sure that Mariko would love to work with this guy. Yet, Lucca was exactly what he wished he was, what he wanted to do when he was little, but never could really do well in because the world chose for him to not be an actor.
"Ah, Lucca Bello. It seems you've realized that your career as an actor was a dead end, as I always believed, and have begun your search for your true talent. Fast Food seems a logical choice for someone with your level of intelligence and lack of skill in nearly everything you do," Root said with a grin on his face. Oh, this would definitely relax his mind, being able to insult a person both his sister, his friend, and the rest of his family probably respected. "I'll have a Chik Deluxe, cut the lettuce and tomato. And do make sure it's assembled correctly, I'd hate to have to complain about your service and ruin your chances at a lifelong career of mediocrity, because it's all that's left for you now and I'm not a cruel man."

Lucca's eagerness for the job ahead seemed to fade away when he saw Root come in. Now, it wasn't that he disliked Root, he always just seemed like a downer most of the time. And since Lucca was usually very happy and upbeat, they usually didn't mix well together.
Lucca felt a bit hurt by Root assuming that he had fallen from his previous stardom. He flashed a smile at him. A smile that screamed "I'm going to actually die here." He chuckled a bit before responding to Root's assertion. "No I'm definitely still and actor. I'm only here to learn what it's like. The role I just landed has the character be a fast food worker, and I really wanted to be able to relate to him. It makes the performance more...genuine, y'know?" He flashed another smile, this one seemed a little more sarcastic and snarky.
As Root ordered, Lucca followed along, punching the order as he said it. This was easy so far, not too much stress yet. "Alright that'll be $7.58." Lucca collected the money and put it in the register. "Oh and Root, its not up to me how its assembled, so if its not up to expectations, blame the cooks." Lucca said before flashing another snarky smile.

Science is the Poetry of Reality Oh this was fantastic. Root had a feeling he was here just to make extra money or even to gain experience of some sort, but he couldn't help but mock the actor. It was something about causing the feelings of someone so upbeat most of the time to fall downhill. Root wasn't normally rude to workers in the fast food profession even though they were completely and totally beneath him and were stupid. Otherwise they would have found themselves in a better career. Of course, just like the other idiots, these people were the workers for the more intelligent people to make their lives easier so they could get along with discovering the world and actually making a difference in the world, even a difference for all those less intelligent. It was a tradeoff, really, they provided the best service they could muster out of their little minds, and in return the smartest make a difference in their world and make it easier for them, with cell phones and other advances in technology.
"If that's what you need to tell yourself at night," Root laughed handing Lucca the money, "Then you keep telling yourself that. It really is good you realized it sooner rather than later, or you would waste your life on worthless little roles no one hears about as your life slowly disintegrates in front of you and all that is left is an empty husk of unfulfilled dreams." Root shrugged when Lucca said it wouldn't be his fault if it wasn't correct. "Ah yes, but if it's wrong, it's your job to make sure it's right. And I'm not an easy man to please." And at that, Root walked off… at least for now.

Miu Hazama walked into the Quik Chik, being followed by her perpetually grumpy brother, Takahiro. The duo stood back for a moment and looked over the menu and talking amoungst themselves. After a quick chat they walked forward, Miu first as usual. "Hey there, Lucca! Nice seeing you here!" She exclaimed, waving a bit.
"Let's see... We're gonna have a Chik Nuggets... A Chik Sandwich... Both combos with drinks, okay?" She waited for a moment to make sure that was okay. "Okay!" She said, grabbing the cups and running off to go get soda for herself and brother.

Takahiro Hazama entered the restaurant behind his little sister, and his normal aura of over-protectiveness was in full effect. After discussing his order with Miu they approached the counter to see Lucca Bello, someone they knew, or at least knew of, from school. Miu placed the order and ran off to leave him to pay. He pulled out some money but before handing it to him, Takahiro spoke. "Make sure nothing goes wrong with her order."
His words were intense for just the short sentence he spoke, full of intensity as if they were a threat or something even stronger, his eyes glaring at Lucca as he waited for how much the order cost. The actor could probably learn a thing or two about presence from this Motorcyclist.

Lucca was happy to see the friendly face of Miu, someone he had seen around school a few times. She seemed like she was a lot like him, very happy and carefree. He smiled a bit as she walked in, but that smile faded away when he saw her brother behind her. Her brother on the other hand, was the single most intimidating person he had ever met in his life.
Lucca's happy expression soon turned into one of fear. He tried to keep cool as they ordered, but he coudln't stop his hand from shaking as he punched in the order. When Takahiro spoke, Lucca's heart sank. He spoke with such force, such intensity. "Y-Yessir! I'll make sure everything goes smoothly!" Lucca said in a panicked voice. "Th-That'll be $13.39." Lucca sputtered as he held out a shaky hand for the money.

Takahiro handed him $15 and waited for his change, silently. That order better be perfect because there's no telling what he would do if it wasn't. Once he had his change he would go over to sit down with his sister, giving Lucca room to breath and not be afraid of such an intimidating presence.

Louise walked into the Quik Chik and immediately wrinkled her nose in disgust.
"People eat here?!?", she thought. "Why would they do this? Why would they pay to hurt themselves?"
Although she nearly gagged from the smell, she bravely walked to the counter. She saw some other ultimates sitting there already, but Louise didn't interact with them. They all seemed busy in one way or another.
At the corner, she greeted Lucca, whom she recognized.
"Hello, Lucca!", she said, before holding a hand to her mouth because it smelled so awful in the restaurant. "My brother sent me. He wanted a Super Spicy Chik Sandwich combo with a coke. To go, please."
"I don't want to be in here any longer than necessary..."
Louise then pulled out her wallet and prepared to pay.

Lucca nervously held the money, and just stood there. Almost as if he wasn't sure what to do with it. He had a hulking monster of a teenager looking at him, so this was basically the worst time to be scared.
Come on Lucca! Its fine, all you have to do is get him his change. Its not that hard...
Lucca took a deep breath and opened up the register. He felt a bit more calm now, a bit stressed, but more calm nevertheless. He pulled out the exact change, making sure to count over it three times to make sure he didn't mess up, and handed it to Takahiro. As he walked away, Lucca's gazed shifted to the person next in line.
It was Louise! Finally, another friendly face. As she walked up, Lucca greeted her with a smile, a genuine one this time, not like the one he gave Root earlier. Though it was a little strange for someone with her refined tastes to be here, he was happy to see her nonetheless. "Ok, that'll be $6.48!" Lucca said with a smile. As Louise got her money ready, he grabbed one of the cups and filled it up with Coke, like she asked. He set it down in front of her and accepted the money. "It should be ready real soon."

Rivier sniffed the air as a friendly human girl opened the door for him, allowing him access into this "Quik Chik". Who named a restaurant with such an ugly title? Nevertheless, an impressive crowd filled the room. Maybe it wasn't so bad?
After further inspection, the Dog's tail started wagging as he noticed the cashier! Lucca Bello! He had always been friendly to the animal, even if his little bookworm friend was a bit...uncouth. So as the line slowly shuffled forward, so did the dog. The brother and sister ordering their food, Lucca fumbling with their change, Louise (who probably had the best snacks) ordering for her brother...and now it was his turn. But there was a problem.
The menu wasn't vegan.
Rivier barked at Lucca urgently, waiting until the boy turned to look at him. "Do you have any gluten-free vegan items?" Ohhhhhh, he could feel steam coming out of his triangular ears already. Was a manager going to have to be peed on?

"$6.48? That's pretty expensive. Can't you do anything about it, Lucca?" She winked at him teasingly, before she pulled out her coinage.
"I kid, I kid. Here you go!" She made sure she gave the Actor the exact amount, and not a single cent above. She hated fidgeting around with change, and she thought the counter was also pretty gross.
With the coke in hand, she sat down near a table where neither the Hazama siblings nor Root sat down. She wasn't sure if Rivier was going to join her at her table or not, but she still made space for him just in case.
She looked at the drink and fought with herself not to drink it, as it was Luigi's meal, not hers. But coke was kinda a guilty pleasure for her. If she was stuck here, might as well enjoy a teeny tiny sip. Luigi won't notice.

Lucca smiled as we watched Louise take her seat, being very thankful he didn't have to fiddle around with change. He waited a bit for the next person in line, and waited...and waited. He was a little confused, and scanned the area, looking for any other people. It wasn't until a voice came up from beneath the counter, and made Lucca jump back in fear.
What the fuck was that!?
Lucca cautiously leaned over the counter, only to find Rivier, the SHSL Dog looking up at him. Lucca sighed a little bit, Lucca had always loved dogs, and Rivier was no exception. Lucca gave a little awkward smile as he had to deliver the bad news to the pup. "Sorry Rivier, everything here is full of gluten and the opposite of vegan. We kind of only have....chicken." Lucca began to sweat a little bit. The last thing he wanted to do was disappoint Rivier. "Umm wait just a second, I'll see if I can find something." Lucca quickly hurried into the kitchen, and looked around for something to give Rivier. He looked for a few second and then found something perfect. A ball of lettuce. He grabbed the lettuce without anyone noticing and ran out of there as fast as he could. He showed the lettuce to Rivier. "Will this do?" He said while giving an uncomfortable smile.

Science is the Poetry of Reality Root wasn't actually impatient. He just wanted to screw with Lucca as much as he could. After all, Lucca was the type of person who belonged to the Root family, whereas he, Alexander Root, was not at all someone who belonged. While he didn't consider Lucca a friend, he didn't dislike the kid enough to warrant the giant storm clouds that threw the shade he threw onto Lucca. However, Root wasn't that nice of a person and actually took joy in seeing Lucca squirm. It was hilarious to him, though really it didn't matter to him if Lucca hated him at all, seeing as Root's whole attitude was centered around not getting too close to anyone, though that strategy had turned out super well.
Root had taken his seat and watched as the others filed in. Well, he didn't watch as much as he took notes down in his journal and noticed the others coming in. When Rivier had come in, Root already knew Lucca was going to have a swell time and Root didn't even have to do anything. That dog, after all, was a picky eater. Root couldn't stop himself from laughing slightly when Lucca ran to the back and grabbed a head of lettuce. He decided that it was his turn to step up and try to make Lucca's day just a little bit better.
He walked up and grinned at Rivier. "Hey, boy. Good boy," He let a hand scratch Rivier behind the ear before he looked up at Lucca. "I've been waiting far too long for my food. Where is it? Or is your tiny little brain too small to comprehend the fact you work at a 'fast' food restaurant. Perhaps you and I have a different definition on the word fast? Do I need to have a word with your manager about your pure incompetence in doing a simple task of delivering my food?" Root crossed his arms, his journal in his right hand and his pencil in his left, a smug smile on his face, looking like he was the biggest jerk in the world. Ha. This was hilarious to Root. In any other circumstance he wouldn't have this power of Lucca, so he would seize this chance to claim power over someone who was the very epitome of everything he wanted to be and failed at doing. In a way, he was feeling better about the type of person he was because this way he was higher than this ultimate actor in this instance.
