"So, Nagito. You um, you a big fan of Hope, huh?"
That was basically the only thing that he took away from Nagito's speech earlier, that and how heartfelt his feelings were towards Chiaki. And so he used this chance to get to know him a little better (which was one of the reasons Hoshi had asked him to come along after all), though another reason he insisted on talking was because he knew damn well that the lull silence would have brought wouldn't have been enjoyable in the least. Making a conscious effort not to look out the window (and the sight of the roof that was just beyond it), he instead turned to the brunette. “You holding up alright?” Hoshi asked, though a part of him wondered how much of that question was directed towards the person that asked it.
Stopping in front of the roof’s entrance, he reached out for the knob but froze in place. Clicking his teeth, he put on his mask once more before finally gaining the courage to twist open the knob, stepping through.

Nagito had been deep in thought when Hoshi asked his question. The luckster had currently been privately freaking out at the rather lunatic idea of going on a roof. He had done strange, brave things the last couple of weeks...but that was because Chiaki had been his courage. Now he was rudderless. Once again he only sought Hope for others, as there was no true Hope for himself.
So the question from Hoshi made him laugh a bit.
"Yes. You could even go so far as to say I worship Hope. And you are all symbols of Hope so..I admire you Ultimates very much. The Ultimate Ultimate Fanatic would be a better title for me." Nagito said, chuckling in a low tone of voice. It had lost much of it's ecstatic edge.
He allowed Hoshi to go first and then followed, trembling slightly the entire time. He proceeded to examine the roof as closely as he could. Even as his grief and fear enveloped him.

As you head to the roof, a familiar face greets you. ”Hey there.” It’s the blue haired Kyo Tsukino, the man who brought you all together. How did he... beat you here? You didn't see him on the way up... Also, why is he on the ledge looking down?
”I thought some of you would check the roof out.” Kyo jumps from the ledge onto the room and walks to the middle of the surface, looking around. Though he seems a bit disappointed in the lack of blood, despite this, you can see his eyes are full of determination. Kyo pulled out a spray bottle labeled, phenolphthalein, and sprayed the ground. It’s very, very light, but you can see some discoloration forming.
”I thought so. You see phenolphthalein detects hemoglobin presence and turns pink when there used to be blood somewhere. I was worried they might’ve used oxidizing bleach, but they didn’t expect us to be investigating. Otherwise I would have to find… more creative methods to detect if there was blood up here.” Kyo smiles slightly though he looks quite sad. ”Anyways, let’s get to looking around. Come to me if you need any help, alright?”
Ah, that’s right, you should probably look around. Perhaps you should check out those blood stains, or maybe you could chat with Kyo about the case, he’s fairly experienced after all with things like this, he is a secret agent. Hold on, what’s that light in the AC unit?

While Hoshi and Nagito walked towards the roof entrance, the former looking solemn yet confident, and the latter having a surprisingly nervous aura, the programmer lagged behind, almost trippig over his own feet as his mind wandered. The idea of even stepping foot on the roof after what happened yesterday was depressing and frightening at the same time. Once the two ahead of him began talking, he fell further into thought.
They were symbols of hope? Even him? It wasn't hard to doubt the luckster's words in such a time, where the school seemed to be stuck in a fog of despair. It was only when Hoshi asked him how he was that Chihiro snapped out of that down spiral.
"H-Huh? Oh... I-I'm okay, I guess.. just..." That was, of course, a lie. Made obvious by how his puffy eyes stared towards the ground. "Nervous... and.." He missed her. So much. It had been the first time someone he cared about was ripped from the world without warning.
As they stopped in front of the door, he muttered out.
"Just t-tell me how I can best a-assist you, please.."
As the three of them stepped onto the roof, their attention was immediatly caught on Kyo. The teacher spoke, before spraying the ground. Several stains, that had originally been invisible, now lightly lit up pink. Was that... really blood? How..
Staying just behind the other two, his face grew pale.

The Ultimate Hope Fanatic. He wasn't sure how much of it Nagito meant as a joke, but after the earlier display, Hoshi didn't doubt that for a second. "I can understand looking up to Hope's Peak. Doing crazy thi- Being overjoyed to get in."
He turned back to Chihiro as he stepped through, calling out "Three pairs of eyes are better than two," in an attempt at soothing the brunette's nerves, but he himself was taken a little aback when he saw the sudden appearance of Kyo (and especially at where he stood). That was the ledge where... Where the two of them... Clenching his fists, the Con Artist shook his head. Whispering voices that promised nothing but grief and sorrow shouldn't be paid any heed - there's more important things to focus on now.
After listening to what Kyo had to say, Hoshi turned to face the other two in his group. "I'll... Check out the bloodstains, if you don't mind." Honestly he felt as if he should've talked to the blue-haired man, see what he could gain from it, but... but he couldn't steer himself away.
"I haven't told you this, Nagito, but I'm sorry for... for what happened," Hoshi said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Let's just do our best, yeah?" he said, turning away and heading towards the bloodstains.
'It's the only thing we can do, at this point.'

Doing crazy things to get in? He never had really considered that. Generally he enjoyed what precious bits of normalcy his Luck afforded him. In his heart of hearts he truly longed to be a starring role. To be the Ultimate he desired. Hope's Peak Academy fed this to him in an incomplete and dissatisfying way. Being accepted for the unstable power that was luck was as depressing as it was rewarding.
Still even though he was pretty much useless he had to help them all. Even if it was only a little bit, he had to make the Ultimates shine brighter.
"Thank you for your kind words Kisuragi-san. I have every certainty that we will be able to solve this case for Nanami-san." Nagito said again, a small sad grin on his face.
"And don't you worry either Fujisaki-san. I am sure you will prove yourself at the trial if not sooner. With the Hope dwelling inside both of you, we can't possibly lose!" Nagito said, getting a bit amped up about hope again.
As Hoshi was examining the bloodstains more carefully, Nagito caught a strange light in the AC Unit. The luckster went over to check it out.
And yes he did notice one peculiar thing about the blood...a shudder of anticipation raced down Nagito's back. Just what was going to happen next? He could hardly wait.

After the stains on the floor had been revealed to the three of them, Hoshi and Nagito began to move out, looking to investigate the different areas of the roof. Hoping to piece together what happened there. The con artist walked towards what could really be blood, while Nagito seemed to go right past it.
All the while, Chihiro just stood near the door, not entirely sure how to proceed. He wasn't too sure about getting too close to the blood. Just the thought that it could be his friend's was terrifying. After a long minute, he crossed his arms to ward off the chilly winds, before walking towards the teacher. Surely, if he talked to Kyo, who'd more than likely have some intuition to put to work, then even Chihiro could help solve this mystery.
As he crept across the rooftop, just out of the corner of his eye, he spotted something written in the pink hue.
"I-Is that.. Na-" The programmer bit his lip, looking over to his other investigation partner. That was impossible. He must have just read it wrong. There's no way his upperclassman would do that to Chiaki. Taking a deep breath, he continued walking until he faced Kyo.
"D-Do you have any idea why there.. m-might be blood up here? I thought she d.. Died from the fall..." He looked down, solemnly. Such an.. awful scene. His last words were merely muttered. "What.. happened here?"

What the bloodstain wrote... It almost seemed like something about of a murder-mystery fiction.
'And they say the dead can't speak... Chiaki, was this really your last words?'
But it couldn't be this simple, could it? Was the man with the twisted facial contortions really Chiaki's killer? Or was Nagito being framed by someone who knew full well of his susceptibility to the brushstroke of feigned guilt?
At this point, Hoshi was thankful that his features were hidden in the shade of his mask. Because right now even he knew that he was a loose cannon, and if even more things start to point in the direction of the SHSL Luck… He didn’t want to show Nagito his feelings towards him until the very last second. If this were a normal situation Hoshi had little doubt in his ability to pull that act off, (in fact, he would go as far as to say that he would be better than the ice-cold SHSL Gambler), but this was no commonplace circumstance. And he got a feeling that Nagito was a pretty sharp tool, hidden beneath that open floodgate of horrid self-deprecation.
He watched as Nagito waltzed over to check on the bloodstains, deciding to step away to take a moment to stand on the ledge. He was sitting in this very spot the first time they met. There was that group of students over… over there, by the entrance. And beautiful fireworks shot into the sky from the trees that dotted that park in the distance, brazen colours lighting up the night sky. Hoshi looked down from where he stood, imagining the fall. The brief seconds of weightlessness.
Chiaki’s body brought back very bad memories. Very, very bad memories. He wanted to remember Miyo in a much different way, untarnished by the solemn painting his mind kept of her final demise. But while people always talked about remembering the deceased as they were in their pleasant, happy days, nobody ever mentions just how difficult it is to do that.
And now he faced the same problem with the Ultimate Gamer too. Pages of his friendship with Chiaki Nanami, stained now by a sight that couldn’t be washed away with even the strongest drink.
‘But at least it hurt less than Miyo’s did…’ Hoshi selfishly thought.
Letting out a soft sigh, Hoshi turned his back on the sight that he and she had once shared together on this ledge. Spotting Nagito walking away, he decided to follow after him, briskly moving to catch up with the pale-haired guy. “Think someone’s framing you?” Hoshi asked, his tone friendly and non confrontational, quickly spotting what it was exactly that had drawn the SHSL Luck to this location. And so the Con Artist too checked on the AC’s light, paying close attention to the manner in which Nagito would respond with.

Nagito grinned, this con artist certainly was something. As expected of an Ultimate of his title.
"You could say something like that, Kisuragi-kun. It's fairly common for people to suspect the significant other in the case of murder. The killer could easily have framed me for such an act. The fact that blood was here at all....well it's not for me to say. I'm probably wrong anyway." Nagito said with a small chuckle. The white haired boy leaned in closer to Hoshi and whispered:
"Still, whether or not I murdered her. Her blood is on my hands, wouldn't you say? Feel free to kill me if you wish. No one will miss a disgusting insect like me. They may just throw a parade in your honor." Nagito said and then moved back to his original position. The self hatred dripped off of his tongue like acid.
"Of course if your hope involves finding the truth at the trial, it would be best to leave me be for now. There will always be time to take care of me after. Either way, It's not like I'd stop you." Nagito said, back to a calm, polite, composed tone.
The suspense was killing him. What would possibly come next? What was Hoshi's hope?

| Kyo looked from Chihiro after his statement to the young boy, making sure to speak quietly as to not alarm the others. If Chihiro saw it fit to release to the others the information that he gave him, then he would, otherwise it would probably be revealed in their 'trial' of sorts they would hold tomorrow after all of their investigations.
"Now, now, play nicely boys."
Kyo smiled for just a moment, taking an ear piece from his pocket and lightly tossing it to Chihiro. His grin grew from a light one to one that almost looked a bit insane. Suddenly, he busted a move for the edge, stopping just in time to prevent his fall. "I wonder if my calculations are correct. I'm no scientist nor mathematician, I might've moved a decimal place. The only way to find out... well it won't be perfect, but it'll work well enough." Kyo turned towards the kids and slowly fell forward, off the ledge of the building. If one were to watch as he fell, he looked peaceful as he fell, face down, near to where Chiaki had been found later.

"Can you hear me? Sorry if I freaked you guys out." It was Kyo on the other end of the ear piece he had lightly tossed to Chihiro. Kyo had landed on the ground safely. Except for the fact he was pretty sure he broke a foot. Ah well, when you knew how to land correctly you could survive a fall like that, with just a little bit of injury. After all he was a secret agent, and parachutes drew attention. Though, it was something one really needed to train to do, and there were several he knew in the same profession who died in the training, or even just falling from too high and the techniques failed them. Either way, he survived, though his foot hurt like hell. Damn he really should have landed correctly. He landed perfectly all the time, and yet, not this time, he had to injure himself. At least he was still alive, right?
"I wanted to check something. You see, if Nanami were alive when she fell, she would've landed where I landed. You can't see it from there, but I am approximately a foot from where Nanami was found. I did this earlier limp, except at the last second and I was inches from where she was found." |

Gruesome. Morbid. Depressing. All very, very appropiate words that someone could use to describe Kyo Tsukino's theory of what happened on this rooftop. The words only made him shudder at the thought. So much so that he nearly dropped the ear piece that the young teacher threw to him.
Truly, it happened so quickly, that Chihiro really couldn't believe his eyes. As Kyo fell from the roof, a harsh gasp escaped his mouth as his face turned ghost white.
"D-D-D-Did he j.. J-Just..." He shook, not daring to stand near that ledge. A deathly fear began to overtake him. He was just about to run for the door before..
Kyo's voice played on the other end of the ear piece, just loud enough for everyone to hear if they stood close to it. With the voice, a heavy sigh of relief escaped Chihiro's lungs.
"C-Couldn't you have just t-told us, instead of jumping like that? You c-could've.." Well. Of course the former Ultimate Secret Agent would know what he was doing, wouldn't he?

"I'm probably wrong after all."
"..a disgusting insect like me.. a parade in your honor.""It's not like I'd stop you."Clicking his teeth, the Con Artits balled up his fists. He wanted to beat Nagito up right there and then, that self-deprecating prick. "Stop that..." he muttered, softly at first, but then again in a much louder "Stop! Shouldn't you be saying things like 'I'll live on in Chiaki's place,' or 'You can't kill me, I need to stay alive for her' !?"
He has had enough of this Ultimate Luck. Stepping forwards, he attempted to grab the scruff of Nagito's shirt and slam him against the wall.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" But then a voice cut through the air, asking for the two of them to 'play nice'. Hoshi turned in the guy's direction, but the only sight he saw was that man's back as he jumped off the roof. 'What the hell?' thought Hoshi, stunned. Walking towards where the timid girl stood, it was there where he barely caught the voice coming out from the girl's earpiece. Look like the guy was still alive. Somehow. "I can't believe he just did that," the Con Artist commented, standing behind Chihiro. "How the hell..."
He then shook his head, wondering why he was impressed by the things he sometimes sees. In this school, almost nothing was out of the question after all.
"When you're done with that, could you pass it to me for a sec?" asked Hoshi, trying to put on a smile so as to look at least somewhat presentable. He realized then that his mask was still on, and so he took it off and tried to wear that expression once more. This girl was good company, and he didn't want to do anything to put her off. Nothing more than what he's already shown her with the earlier scuffle with Nagito, of course.
When and if he got the earpiece, Hoshi would walk a fair distance away before whispering a question, his tone dead serious. "So, do you have any more info for us? Anyone you have your eyes set on as being Chiaki's killer?"

Nagito couldn't help but grin even wider. Hoshi really was an interesting person. His hope was ablaze! Saying such amazing things like how Nagito should be living for her. What a truly heroic, hopeful sentiment. Fitting for a leading man.
But Nagito was never cut out for that sort of role.
"That's it Kisuragi-kun! Hurt me if you wish. You must think I'm ungrateful for what Nanimi-san did for me right? That I'm a disgusting lowlife that can't even thank her by carriying on her memory? Well maybe that is what's wrong with me. I keep living while everyone else dies. A miserable cockroach like me...I don't deserve to live with memories of her. If Hope will blossem from my death...that's the most someone like me can desire. And even that is a selfish wish." Nagito said, his eyes filled with a hope so strong it became despair. A grief so strong it became joy.
"If blaming me will make things easier for you I will become your scapegoat. If killing me will fill you with Hope, I will become your victim. I selfishly took advantage of Chiaki's kindness for my own temporary happiness. Just when I thought I couldn't sink any lower I managed to top myself. Killing someone like me would be a kindness to both myself and the world. For someone like-" Nagito ranted before Hoshi dropped him and turNEEEEERRRRRRRDDDD to see Kyo.
The Ultimate Lucky student was pleased to see Kyo's display of talent. As expected of a Hope's Peak Faculty member. Nagito decided to step up and take a closer look at the Blood stains. He wasn't sure that he had seen the whole message and he wanted to make sure things were clear to him.
He could die soon still...but if not he wanted to be as useful as he could in trial.
