Why do things like these happen?
But no matter what happens, one must press on. Daniel was pretty lucky that the Biology labs were on the fifth floor rather than somewhere like first or second floors.
Rather than having to run around the school, the Procrastinator's life was made easier by the fact that he only had to descend one flight of stairs in order to reach the Headmaster's office.
When Daniel opened the door to the office with one of the master keys Mr. Tsukino handed out, the brown-haired boy expected the worst. Mr. Kirigiri could have been in there, doing headmaster things and expel Daniel and Willow from the school for snooping around his office.
...
It was apparent that some divine being was smiling on him and Willow, as the headmaster was nowhere to be seen. Daniel then walked in and waited for Willow to come after him. He was being careful not to touch anything at first. He figured Willow would have to give his input first.
"So, Willow." Daniel asked his partner. "Where should we look first here?"

Willow took a quick initial survey of the Headmasters office. After a few moments of scrutinizing he decided to give his orders to Daniel.
"Look through the cabinets. Quickly but carefully look for anything that might be relevant and bring it to me so that we can take pictures of it and look through it together. I'll be searching through the headmasters desk. I am aware of booby traps he might set up as well as how to pick simple locks if necessary. " The trickster said. His talents might prove very useful during this investigation after all.
As Willow set to work he issued a couple of short prayers. Perhaps a spirit of the room might speak to him through intuition? Regardless he scrounged through the Headmasters desk. Then he helped Daniel with the cabinets. Finally him and Daniel tried to find any other areas of interest.
Hopefully they would be awarded for their diligence.

As you enter the headmaster’s office, you find yourself in the room all alone. You better hurry up before Headmaster Kirigiri gets back! You could rifle through the desk to see what you can find, or perhaps you could try to open the safes behind his desk, they surely look locked up tight! They seem to require a word password. Ah, well, maybe those portraits might give you a hint.

Willow examined the Safe and quickly entered "Kyoko" as a password.

"If 'Kyoko' doesn't work, try 'Kyouko' instead."

Ding! The first safe opens up! It looks like there's another safe but this password doesn't work. Maybe you should look around to find the other one. Perhaps the portraits?

He then took a good look around at looked at the portraits hanging around.

He recognized the man on the portrait and typed in his name in the second safe.
