It was the moment he was waiting for since the beginning of the school year. It took him over two years for the school to finally approve it, but Iocus was finally doing his Stand up comedy show.
The gym was being used that night to host his special event. The background of the auditorium was converted into a brick wall just to give it the right feel. There were a dozen of so large round tables on the floor of the gym. They could sit at least 12 people each. That is, if there were any chairs!
The lights in the gym went dim and upbeat music started playing. The lights focused on the stage and Iocus came out.
"Hello everybody! Welcome to my Stand up Comedy Special Bonanza! I would apologize for the lack of chairs but this IS stand up comedy you know?"
The audience didn't seem to like that joke. Maybe it would have been a better idea to actually give them chairs or something.
Iocus signaled the staff present and they soon brought dozens of chairs for the audience.
"Alright, I will be the one standing then. I couldn't chair-less. So before we being, let me explain how this will go. I don't have any actual material with me tonight so I will have to improv it all and it will be YOU who becomes the joke. Do I have any volunteers who would like to come up here and get roasted by yours truly?"
There were a lot of Ultimates in the crowd. This would be a piece of cake.

For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. Alex's little sister Wendy, who attended the school alongside him, had seen a sign up in the halls, and came home one day extremely excited about something. To Root's dismay it was the comedy show that the comedian was putting on for the student. It wasn't that Root disliked the comedian, it was just that he felt it was a waste of time. However, Wendy had insisted that they go. So there the two of them were, just waiting for the show to start. Root wasn't physically able to stand for long periods of time, and Wendy was sitting on the ground just waiting. She had such a large smile on her face while she waited that Root couldn't possibly try to leave now.
Ah, finally, the chairs were brought out and Root sad him and his sister at the edge of one of the chairs and the other ten-ish people filled in the rest. Root hoped that his sister would stay happy throughout. After all, she did laugh at the stand-up comedy thing already. Root crossed his arms and wore a frown so anyone who looked would believe he wasn't happy to be there, except Wendy. He always had felt a large weight of responsibility when it came to Wendy, given most of her problems were his fault, in the end. There were times he had the dark through of it would've been better if she left like his mother did back then, but then he told himself she seemed happy and therefore it was loads better she was still around. After all, he would be a lot worse off without her, even if during those dark times he thought of himself as selfish for those thoughts.
Root took out his journal and wrote 'Wendy likes comedy, look up other shows she might want to go see'. After all, even if he were to take time he could be using to make advances in the scientific fields he worked in, it wasn't wasted if it made Wendy a little bit happier. Well, whatever. He was staying even if he was determined to not like it.

"Comedy today huh?
The twins got roped into the strangest things. Because the school was so bass ackwards by how it was run (making class optional for an example, man if only the twins had known that when they were attending as students things would have been a lot more fun they can assure you) but they allowed students to put on comedy shows and the twins had been forced under the threat of overseeing weekend detentions to act as makeshift security in case things went bad. Normally they wouldn't complain, but they had actually had plans today (well by plans, I meant normal after school plans, which was get drunk and cause trouble) and now here they were watching someone make chair puns. There had to be some benefit to their doing this somewhere, right? I mean this wasn't happening for no rea-
...Oh look, there it was. And it looked like it hadn't showered in two weeks judging by the students around him trying to lean as far away as possible without being noticed.
"Aah, and a little lamb has shown itself to the wolf."
Alexander could be a smart mouthed little asshole who reeked of desperation and obvious virginity, but the twins would be lying if they said they didn't have a soft spot for him. Hell trhe poor jackass was hurt so often he and Noriko could almost be considered friends if he would stop insinuating she had sex with every person who happened to have a third leg. But even if she did like the kid, she liked to mess with him more and so the snake eyed biologist slowly started to slither (snake theme, rolling with it) towards the scientist only stopping when she heard the magic words
"Do I have any volunteers"
And her grin got even wider. On the tippiest of tip toes, Noriko approached the younger boy from behind and ever so slowly to not be noticed pressed the tip of an index finger right smack dab in the middle of his left side and waggled her finger back and firth in a tickling motion, whispering softly in his ear from behind his seat to not be seen or punched in retaliation
"Coochie coochie coo, kohai."

For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. Volunteers. Volunteers. There was no way on God's green Earth he was going to volunteer for this dude to insult him. He already got that enough from people around school, especially the two sister of Mariko Nakazawa, the two who seemed to be bent on making his life miserable. Ah, but he dealt with it because he had to, and if it meant he could see Mariko more, he'd deal with it forever. However, he was with his sister and no matter how much he had to hold back, he wouldn't be rude to them… well in a manner of speaking. He had rules around his sister, so that she wouldn't get upset around him, and he would follow them. After all she was highly impress-
"WHAT THE F-" He stopped himself from allowing the curse to roll of his tongue as someone started tickling him. The voice clicked in his head. It was one of the fucking twins. God damn it. What the hell was wrong with her. Instinctively, he raised his hand to try to hit her, but given her position, he couldn't reach. Of course, he didn't even think that such a moment could be understood as a 'volunteer' as he was in the moment, and didn't even think of the consequences.
What was Noriko's plan? Like what the hell? He was used to her messing with him, but he had no idea what her plan could be this time. Perhaps she outsmarted him… HAHAHAHAHAhahahaha. No. That was impossible. She probably had such a stupid plan it was inconceivable for him to even thinking of, because well, she was obviously not as intelligent as he was: did she have a Nobel Prize? No. Had she displayed intelligence superior than his own? No. Just because she was better at the medical stuff didn't mean anything. It just meant she had more knowledge in a certain area than him. Thinking about it, maybe that was why he couldn't conceive whatever ulterior motives she had for sneaking up on him like that. If not just to get him to freak out like he obviously did.
"Noriko," Root whispered standing up and looking behind his chair, his voice low and stern, "Stop being silly and leave me and my sister alone. And don't call me kohai." Wendy seemed almost completely oblivious to all of this, and she watched to see who Iocus would pick. Words: 403 | @next

It took a few seconds but finally a hand was raised among the audience.
Iocus took a glance into the darkness of the crowd, only to crack a smile with glee.
"Will you look at that! Alex! My best buddy, has decided to come up to be the first! This is perfect for an opening!"
Iocus signals the staff and they carry Root to the stage against his will.
As Root is being brought up to the stage Iocus continues.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I will explain how the show will go. Once you are up here, you will be strapped up here for at least 5 minutes and we will have a fun time. If you don't want to have a fun time when strapped, just say so!"
Root was sat on a chair in the stage and strapped by the staff.
"Well then, could you tell the audience your name and your talent? Not everybody knows WHO you are, you know DOCTOR?"

For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love. Of course this was her plan. He was just too blind to see it. Well, he was too smart to see such a stupidly simple plan, he told himself. Noriko could go fuck herself, though she didn't really have to seeing as she pretty much fucked a new guy every night anyways. Okay. That was a little cruel. But he was angry. And while he knew it wasn't true, he didn't care at this moment as he was carried up. The only thing that caused him to not struggle was the smiling face of his sister who was clapping and laughing and cheering for him. She was so happy that he couldn't bring himself to try to get out of it.
"First of all, you're not funny. I am not a doctor, nor do I need that title to do what I do," Root said with an annoyed voice. Of course he almost always sounded annoyed, but still, he was annoyed and frustrated and struggled against the restraints slightly. "So you're so much of a coward you have to restrain me? What are you afraid of? I'll hit you?" Root scoffed. He sighed looking out to the audience knowing his toying with Iocus wouldn’t get this over with sooner. "I'm sure everyone knows me, and if they don't, then they should start looking into groundbreaking scientific theories that change our understanding of the universe as a whole. My name is Alexander Root, I am the ultimate scientist. I won a Nobel Prize at the age of 13 and I am far more impressive than anyone else here."
Root continued to frown, looking up to Iocus with a glare. This was not fun. This was going to be terrible. This guy was going to make fun of him and everyone was going to be laughing at him. A normal person might not mind, but Root had been teased all of his life, this wouldn't be any different. He was sure he wouldn't hear anything he hadn't heard before, and if he did, then it wouldn't be anything that new. Tch. This was just an official chance to make fun of him, but no one else needed permission, they just did that normally.
