As a child Chiaki had always loved games. She played them from when she was little and didn't ever want to stop. They were a way to interact with the world, because well, she was a sheltered child for various reasons. She was even homeschooled until she attended Hope's Peak. The school was big and last year she really didn't do much except attend class and run home. Living on campus this year, after asking her parents if she could, and then eventually agreeing, would open up more opportunities. She really wanted to make friends. However, she didn't know how to. There were so many video games that were 'realistic' and yet nothing she ever played really prepared her for life. The closest thing was dating sims, as there wasn't many games that were just life. She was wondering when the game would really start going. The game that was her life, of course. She felt like it was still the prologue and she just needed kick off her story soon.
With that in mind, perhaps it was because she needed to explore. She'd played games where she needed to go into every room and investigate everywhere before the story would continue. And that was what she decided to do today. She had kept all of her game systems in her dorm room, and she was starting to feel a bit of separation anxiety. No, Chiaki, you can do this…. I think. Chiaki made her way up the stairs and to the fourth floor, knowing her destination of the day. She had done this only a couple times and each day she picked a place to explore. Today was the music room. She was looking forward to this room because perhaps then she could hear some music. Music was what made a game good sometimes. Well, not the only thing, but music had a big impact.
She slowly walked into the music room, open after hours for student use, and looked around with wonder. Whoa. It was so beautiful in here. Her eyes caught the piano up on the stage and she slowly approached. She'd played a game where a bird played a piano… of course that game was a beta game and she'd been invited to be the first to play it. She had trouble with it at first because it was a dating sim, but she beat it like every other game she played. And it was fun. Chiaki approached the piano and sat on the bench, looking down at the key in front of her. She'd never learned how to play unless you counted playing the piano on a game, of course.

Another day at the illustrious Hope's Peak Academy. Every day here was a blessing. This was Nagito's holy ground, his temple. The most sacred place he could imagine being. Often he just spent his free time strolling the grounds. Not doing anything in particular except enjoying his time here. He knew one day it would have to end. Once it was over...well then his entire life was only downhill from there.
Still, his luck had taught him to appreciate the rollercoaster that was life. All too soon it could all be over.
Here he was brooding in his favorite place in the world. He got in! At long last the prologue of his life had ended and he could finally spend time trying to fulfil his dream. Doing whatever he could, as trivial as it would be in the long run, to make a world filled with Hope.
Unfortunately thus far he had found few people willing to put up with him enough to use him. As a useless piece of garbage like him he should have suspected as much. Hoping to be able to try and serve, even as a stepping stone for the others was probably too much. Still he had to try. Anything else was just a waste.
As he pondered how he could be better spending his days serving his fellow Ultimates, he noticed the music room was open. Perhaps someone was using it for practice? Or more likely about to seeing as he didn't hear any music. Curiosity got the better of him. Maybe he could just check who was in there. Who knows, they may need his help in some way.
What he saw was an unexpected sight. The Ultimate Gamer herself standing above a very different set of keys then one would expect. Chuckling slightly at his private joke, the Ultimate Lucky student decided to step in.
"Hello Nanami-san, what a pleasure it is seeing you here. I had no idea you could play the piano or even had an interest in music. You must be even more talented then I thought." Nagito said, voice as bright and friendly as ever. He had always had a bit of an interest in the gamer, above and beyond what he had for most of his other peers. Something was...off about her. Though not in an unpleasant way.
It could entirely just be that the lucky student had a bit of a crush on Chiaki. She was very pretty. Still even if that were so...Nagito couldn't help but feel that it was more then that.
In any case he couldn't let the oppurtunity to spend time with her slip by.

Chiaki jumped when she heard a voice. She looked up really quickly, her concentration on the keys was not as focused as she was when she had a game in front of her. She smiled when she saw the white haired young man. Nagito Komaeda. He was in her year right? They had classes together and everything. Oh, her parents would be happy about her making friends. Chiaki hadn't really hung around people outside of class, but that didn't mean she didn't like them. She smiled and calmed from her startle and looked back at the keys. She focused intensely on them. If she was Scott Summers, the piano would be dead by now.
"Oh hi, Komaeda. I -" She paused for a moment and looked back up at him, her intense look at the keys fading into a kind smile, and a slight head tilt. "I do not actually know how to play. I've played games with pianos before… but I can't figure out how to transfer it to here." Transferable skills were usually only reserved for sequels, only very occasionally. And unless life was a sequel to one of them and one of the special games, she doubted she could transfer the skills, even if she wished she could. She liked music, but to make it herself? No. She couldn't do it, she was sure. This piano would make music, right? But no matter how much she thought about touching the keys, no music came out and she couldn't find control pads or anything. If it was a touch screen, well maybe. But she hadn't played many touch screen piano games.
Chiaki liked when people were nice, and Nagito was nice to her. Therefore, she liked Nagito. Given the fact she wasn't used to social interactions, Chiaki had to think long and hard about what she was going to say next. The Ultimate Gamer wished she could be in front of a screen with choices in front of her. Instead it was like the older games like Zork where you had to come up with everything. Though, she was great at Zork. This was like a slice of life version of Zork. She had to conquer it!
"Do you know how to play?" Chiaki tilted her head curiously. That was a good response… she thought.

The white haired boy couldn't help but laugh at her intense gaze. Chiaki was cute, that's for sure. The possibility that he had a crush had just increased. Which he supposed increased the amount of bad luck he would face for meeting her here. Nagito felt a shudder of dread race down his spine at the thought of it.
"Ah so you don't know how to play. I must admit that is disappointing to hear. The idea of you playing the piano is quite the nice thought." Nagito said, shaking his head a bit. It honestly was and not just because it would be another thing the Ultimate Gamer excelled at. The idea of Chiaki playing for him...it was a comforting thought. Nagito remembered a grand piano that his parents had. A beautiful one, not unlike the one Chiaki had been staring at so intensly. His mother and father had often been busy at work, but when his mother was home she would play for him sometimes. It always made him so happy to hear how beautiful she could play. She had been no Ultimate Musician or Ultimate Piano player but...to him it seemed she might have well have been.
Once she was gone...once they both were gone, Nagito had kept that piano around. He had tried to learn a bit when he was younger, as a tribute to his mother. He had only learned to play one or two songs in the end. It was too frustrating knowing he could never play as well as those truly gifted and he could never create his own compositions. Nagito would have been doomed to be mediocre at best and play only in imitation of others. Which, to him, was worse then not knowing how to play at all.
Chiaki reminded him of his mother, just a bit. She had the same kind smile and gentle voice.
"Hm...well if anyone could learn how to play piano by transferring the skill from games, it would be you." Nagito said with a smile that indicated a complete belief in her abilities.
"As for your last question...I do know how to play a couple of songs on the piano. But I am truly dreadful in comparison to even a moderately talented person. If an Ultimate like you heard me play your ears may start to bleed." Nagito said. He felt so utterly powerless. So impotent. He would do anything to make a kind, talented, beautiful person like Chiaki smile but...once she heard him play she would probably be disappointed and get fed up with him. It was a wonder she didn't turn her back on him already just from hearing his sickening voice or seeing his sickly appearance.
Even worse, as much as he longed to reach out to her, he knew what would happen to her if he did. The thought of him being responsible for her experiencing suffering was utterly terrifying. Far worse then being rejected or hated by her. Nagito was used to all that at this point.
The only people he cared for that were still safe had left his life or grown to hate him. Really it was better that way. People deserved more then the company of Nagito Komaeda.
Still he couldn't leave. As selfish as it was to take her time...he wanted it. How many chances would he have to get Chiaki's attention? Likely very few. And he didn't want to be alone right now.

When it came to video games, she really loved how music gave a feeling to what was going on. Sometimes in her head while she was walking around she would play some tune in her mind that seemed to fit the situation. However, she never really actually heard the music. She really liked music in games, and it would be really cool if she could make the music play around her, so she could hear the music that should be playing while she went through her game of life. She wondered how her theme would sound? She bet it would sound techno-y, but also with a light-heartedness… and total determination and excitement and - She was getting a little excited just thinking about all the elements that would go into a theme center around her.
Oh! And what about Nagito's theme? She could hear something a little jazzy. Oh she wished she could play what she could hear in her head, but she didn't know which notes were which and her fingers while they knew where to go, they weren't sure exactly how to play it correctly. It was so frustrating to here something so clearly in her head but be unable to express it. She never had to really do that before, she never had to create tunes or anything like that before, which made it harder for her to do. But she was up for the challenge. She wouldn't let the fact she'd not really done it in real life before affect her. She would learn and adapt her other skills to tackle the game of life and she wasn't going to ever give up. It wasn't in her to give up, which was why she was so good at so many games and completed even the hardest of games out there.
"Do you think you could teach me, Komaeda?" If he knew at least how to begin, maybe he could help her start out. Once she got started on something, it was hard to make her stop. It was like when she got a new game, she'd start playing it and she'd keep on playing it and playing it without stopping even if there were 'make sure to stop and rest sometime' notifications while she played. Sometimes it was hard to snap out of a 'game fever' when she got a new game, or even started an old game over again. "If my ears start to bleed you can stop of course, but I don't think that will happen."
Oh but what if it did? She hadn't really heard a real piano in real life before, ever. What if her ears started to bleed? Oh that was a very scary thought. Blood on a screen was just fine, but blood in real life was a little bit scarier. Even scarier than Fatal Frame, a horror game she'd played in the past about ghosts. She didn't go to sleep the night after she finished it because bad dreams plagued her because of the game. And a few other games, though she still had a lot of fun playing them. "But… if my ears do bleed, you'd bring me to the nurse's right? So it'll be fine… I think." She hoped so at least. She gave him a small smile and tiled her head slightly her eyes mostly closed as she did.

Nagito smiled. This truly was a lucky day for him. Maybe the most lucky day he ever had. Chiaki Nanami was being kind to him, was truly asking for his help. For scum like him, this was truly luck at it's most powerful. The despair he felt at the thought of all the bad luck he was going to receive for this was truly intense.
Still Chiaki was offering him her hand. Nobody in the world could resist taking it. Especially not a truly selfish, troublesome boy like himself.
"It's not a problem Nanami-san. I'll do my best to show you the basics." Nagito said, and he sat down and let his fingers run over the keys. He played for her both of the songs he knew, as best as his fingers could remember them. Then he showed her where to put her hands, told her about all the keys and give her a brief instruction on how the piano worked.
"That's all I know about playing the piano Nanami-san. I'm sorry I couldn't be more of a help to you. If I find any sheet music I will be sure to pass it along. I also am aware that their are tutorials on the internet for this kind of thing. At this point, for someone as truly gifted as you, that should be all you need." Nagito said. He almost wished that Chiaki's ears had starterd bleeding. Then she would be so horrified by him she would never again set her eyes on him and she wouldn't have to withstand the burden of his presence.
Luck was an uncontrollable power though and Fate's only guarantee was that Hope would win in the end. Hope always won, even when everyone around him died or rejected him, there was still something to push him forward. One day, not too long from now, Nagito would be swallowed up by death. There was no avoiding it, only delaying it. When that happened Nagito hoped it would be the dawn of a new era. A world without Despair. He would do anything to see that come to pass.
"Nanami-san. I am probably...unworthy of the attention but I would very much like to talk with you again. I know it's a lot to ask, for someone like me. But even if it is I would love to help you more. In any small way that I can. You've always been so kind and...I would love to pay you back. For the talent you give to the world and that kindness." Nagito said. It was nothing in the end. If he workerd a thousand years, day and night as hard as he could until his body fell apart, he could never repay her for the happiness he felt when he was in her presence. From her smile, from her gentle voice and kind words.
"I guess I'm in love after all." Nagito thought suddenly. Something was going to hurt him big for this. But just right now, for this moment, he couldn't think of any tommorows. Only the joy he felt today. Doing something as simple as giving Chiaki some very simple Piano lessons.
Nagito waited for her reply with baited breath. As if the fate of the world hung on her next word. Because it did, the fate of his entire world.

Chiaki was having so much fun. However, there was something really weird going on right now in her thoughts. Normally she was incredibly focused on things like picking up new skills, or like when the tutorial was playing so she knew how to do something. That was like how it was here. Nagito was her NPC piano teacher. He could also be a part of her party in her game of life. However, when he was showing her how to do everything, part of her focus was on wondering why her heart was pounding like it was. It was as if she was just in a big long fight, or like when she played the scary games like Fatal Frame or Silent Hill. Except she liked the feeling too. It wasn't like it was scary except for the fact she had no idea why her heart was pounding like this.
"Thank you so much, Komaeda-kun," Chiaki said trying to memorize the bits she did pick up. She looked at the keys and played a few randomly trying to match a tune in her head but coming out terribly. She eyed the piano as if she was challenging it. She was determined to play the piano well and let everyone hear the music she heard playing for them. Their themes. It was super interesting to her and a very important part of any game. That and… she almost wanted to be known for something other than games. It was trapping being a SHSL anything because you had to be what your talent was or people would say you were wasting your talent. Then again, she loved video games so much she wouldn't give them up for the world.
"Komaeda-kun. You're my friend. I'd love to hang out with you more." Chiaki said. Hold on. This feeling of butterflies in her stomach. It was like the games described… in the dating sims. Oh no. Was this part of the dating sim portion of her life? Was she supposed to say something like 'Oh, Nagito, I love you' or something cheesy or hit him across the face and be like those tsunderes? Except she didn't think it was love. Was it love? No, it wasn't quite that. But she really liked spending time around Nagito. She didn't know him well enough to love him… though… if this was her dating sim part, she wasn't sad about one of her choices being Nagito. Oh but what was the right choice? She didn't think about anyone else she'd want as her choice in this dating sim part of her life… except maybe that guy she bumped into at the fountain from the reserve course. She liked him too.
Chiaki thought for a moment about what to do, going through all the right choices in the dating sims she'd played before. It would be easier if he was a bird like Oko-san. "You're not unworthy of anything. You're amazing and you've been so nice to me. I… I should be the one repaying you for your kindness. Without you, I wouldn’t know how to even start with the piano…" Chiaki looked to the keys then up at Nagito again. Her heart was pounding still, and as she looked at him with a look of wonder, she thought for just a moment before leaning forwards and pressing her lips to his lips. It was a short little moment before she pulled away but didn't look away. "I h-hope that wasn't wrong."

Nagito felt his heart beating faster. Chiaki was thanking him? No, that smile and her prensence close to him and her gratitude, it was all too much good luck! He was convinced that the second he walked out of this room he would die, or an airplane would fall and crash through Hope's peak, Or Chiaki would disappear off the face of this earth. Hell, the world may very well stop spinning all together.
Then she went further. She called him a friend and said she wanted to spend time with him. That was...just too much. A normal person calling him a friend would knock him off his feet. A talented person...and Chiaki specifically? It felt like a hurricane was blowing through his head, a tsunami devastating the coastlines of his mind.
Then she kissed him.
Chiaki kissed him.
Chiaki kissed him.
That was utter madness. The roller coaster that had been his life had totally derailed. It was spinning out of control with no order or logic. Left was right, up was down. Everything he had known to be the case was wrong. Good luck begat only more Good luck with no intervening Bad Luck. Was the cycle at it's end? Was it merely waiting for the biggest pay off of all?
Nagito had to laugh. A sickening sound half filled with mirth and half filled with utter despair. He fell to his knees and tears streamed down his face. It was truly a pathetic display.
"Is it alright? You made me happier then I can say. Is that alright? I don't....I don't know anymore? Am I allowed to be happy now? I never was before. When bad things happened I could laugh and smile it off because I knew good luck was around the corner but...when good things happened I felt dread because I knew that some bad luck was in my future. But all day..all year I've been having more Good luck then bad. Does that mean...I can live a bit more free?" Nagito said blabbering. He slowed down and composed himself. He had to make things clear and warn Chiaki.
"I'm not amazing Nanami-San. Your the amazing one...to be so kind to me. To be so kind to everyone. You are a light of Hope standing out in a place filled with it. You should be really careful though Chiaki. Terrible things happen to those who show me kindness. My luck is a cycle of Good and Bad luck. By showing me such compassion, you might have made yourself a target of Bad Luck. You could die, Chiaki." Nagito said, a stab of despair hitting him just for thinking of it. He couldn't reject her point blank though. If this is what she wanted...he couldn't make her unhappy. He was that selfish. If he died as soon as he left this room that would be fine. As long as Chiaki didn't die. Anything but that.

Chiaki looked at him worriedly as he fell to his knees, crying. Oh god, she'd done something wrong. She was so bad at these things. She was the ultimate gamer but she was not good at dating sims in comparison to other genres. They were so much harder to really understand. How did she know how a person would react to her actions? She had to just guess from what she knew about them. But she didn't expect this reaction from Nagito. But his words, it was terrible to hear him saying those things. That it was like a curse, good things and then bad things. A cycle of good and bad to even out to grey even if grey was never really there. The absolutes without break.
Keeping a smile on her face, Chiaki kneeled down to him and locked her eyes with his eyes. Oh she hoped she was making the right choice. Nagito was always so nice to her, she just wanted to see him happy. And he even said that he was happy. He just didn't know if he could because of the life he'd experienced so far. He was like the helper person, the person who the protagonist had to help and then they would help the protagonist later. He just needed someone to care about him, and she did. She wasn't going to hide it and let him wallow around. No. She was a strong young woman who spoke her mind when she wanted to, when it was important to her.
"I won't," Chiaki said simply. She wasn't sure what to do, but she was going to just go with what she thought. It was probably the gaming program telling her what to say. She had triggered an event somehow by coming to this room. This was just part of the story. She wouldn't resist it. She'd let the script flow. It was already so interesting. Perhaps this was the first event of Chapter 1. It really seemed like it to her. "It doesn't matter what happens, I won't let myself die." She laughed sweetly and took his hand. "I won't let bad luck scare me away. I'll be careful, okay? I wouldn't be a… light of hope if I just gave up on you, right?"

There he was eye to eye with her, she was saying encouraging words and holding his hand. It felt like a dream. He expected himself to wake up, all alone in his room with no one that loved him or would care when he died. He closed his eyes, but when he opened them she was still there.
Someone ready to inherit his soul. Someone who would remember him after he died. That was all he wanted. Maybe that was his good luck's final gift to him? He would die soon after all but Chiaki would remember him? That would be fine by him.
Looking at her, he felt an unbearable need to help her in any way he could. If being in a romantic relationship would help her...but no that was not his whole reason. That would be too noble for him. He also cared for her deeply, he wanted to be with her. To play and laugh with her, to feel her embrace and kiss again.
Nagito laughed, it was a weary laugh. One filled with resignation. His life had been utterly exhausting and he had held stoic in public for so long.
"You truly are a wonderful person. It would be enough for me to just be in your presence...to be a friend an honor well past that. Even more though....that feels me with such wonderful hope. If any can defy my fate, it would be you Nanami-San. I can be anything for you that you want Nanami-san. Lover, boyfriend, friend, your pet, your servant, whatever you desire. As long as I can make you happy, I'll be happy too." Nagito said, his smile was utterly manic. He had gone out of his mind, he thought. But whatever happened, they would be ok.
Hope always wins in the end. And what was Chiaki but pure, radiant hope?

Chiaki hadn't seen much of this side of him. The slightly more insane parts, but she wasn't scared of him. In fact, she found him amazing. That he was holding all of this in before, and he was willing to let at least this little bit out around her. She always wanted to help people, and she cared deeply for everyone she met, but she found her connection to Nagito to be different than what she felt towards others. It was like she cared more about his happiness which was why she was acting as she did, why she kissed him. It was so weird, and very similar if not the same as when the dating sims would describe the main character around a love interest.
Around Nagito, she felt more… it wasn't uncomfortable even if she was bad at this part of the games, it was more like she was more focused. Her heart was pumping. Her mind was whirling around processing everything she was taking in right now and --
Don't fall asleep Chiaki. She could feel it. No. She couldn't fall asleep. Right now it was too important to just fall asleep. Focus. Okay good. She could feel the tired feeling subsiding, like when she focused on playing a game. Oh good.
"I… I don't know what it is, but when I look at you and you smile, it makes me feel happy. It feels like a weight is lifted off of my chest. My heart races when I see you. It's… It's a weird feeling, Komaeda-kun, but its good. I don't know how to describe it, but you give me the strength to be as hopeful as I am. I… I didn't leave my house ever before I came to Hope's Peak. I want to experience the world… with you." Chiaki didn't care if his smiles wasn't 'normal' or if he didn't act 'normal', she liked him the way he was and wanted to learn more about him. She wanted to help him, she wanted him to be happy. If making him happy meant making her happy, then made things easier because it was the same for her though their roles inverted.

A few more giggles escaped from Nagito again. What an utterly sickening sound. He was surprised Chiaki didn't run away in fear or shudder in disgust or even vomit. How could anyone even stand the sight of him? His frightening grin had subsided a bit, the edge was gone and it was a smile that reflected his utter joy. Without the fear and self hatred.
"You don't know how much that means to me Nanami-san. Chiaki. That you could love trash like me, an utter disgrace to the human race...and you show even me love. I have spent all my life striving for Hope, yet I only had Hope for others...never myself. Finally today...I feel like I'm truly hopeful! You gave even me, the lowest existance on this earth, true Hope. If your not the Ultimate Hope in and of yourself...you must be related to it, I just know it!" Nagito declared earnestly. Then he laughed a bit. Did that even make sense? Often he said things that made sense to him but not to anybody else. A symptom of the FTD he suffered from. He should try again. Just to make sure.
"I...I love you Chiaki. I feel the same feelings around you as you do me. Ha ha ha. That may have been the scariest thing to say in my entire life. Even now I don't know what the consequences could be. My beloved Hope's Peak Academy might burn to the ground all because I said this but...it's the truth and I wanted you to know. I will be by your side as long as you let me. If I break every bone in my body or if I lose the ability to walk or see or hear all because of this happiness...I wouldn't care. It would all be such pitiful bad luck in comparison to the joy I feel right now." Nagito said, laughing giddily once again. He would fight tooth and nail for her happiness. As strong for that as he did for Hope. Because to him...his hope and Chiaki's happiness were one and the same.

Was… was this choice of Nagito Komaeda really happening? Something felt so off inside her, like she was feeling something that she didn't even know how to describe, a tingly feeling, a feeling that welled up inside her and then gushed forth making her want to smile and be around Nagito more and more. And the fact he called her Chiaki… well that was different too. It was an amazing feeling to have him feel like that towards her where he felt it was respectful to use her first name. It was amazing. She wasn't sure how else to describe it. It really felt like her prologue was ending and her choice with Nagito here and now was what kicked it off. She and him would defeat this world, they would explore it and defeat anything that came their way.
"I-I would rather those things not happen…" Chiaki began, "But if it has to in order to be by your side, then we'll face it together! If… If I'm your hope as you say, a shining beacon, you are the post that holds me up… because honestly… it would be hard to keep going like this if all of that happened. But with you, I know that no matter what happens we can remain hopeful and protect this world together! We'll be the heroes and we'll save everyone!" She was really excited that the prologue was just about to end, she could feel the 'chapter 1' title card coming, the music that would play with it, everything. But she was sure that this story, her story was amazing, and she couldn't wait to experience it with her classmate, friend and… well she blushed at the thought, but it was true from this moment forward, he was her lover too.
"Nagito-kun, no matter what happens, I'll help pull you away from whatever despair you fall into. You know, I wouldn't care for you if you really were trash," Chiaki said tilting her head for a moment, then she pulled him into another hug. "Please don't break you bones or lose your sight or hearing or walking ability. I'll still care for you, but it'll hurt me too if that happens. Please take care of yourself."

Chapter 1: Royal Flush
Chiaki said everything the cursed teenager wanted to here. He had longed to be a main character his entire life. A star fighting for Hope alongside beloved friends. A truly outrageous wish. Nagito learned a long time ago he wasn't cut out for a leading role. His skills were more suited for a member of the supporting task, loyally serving the main characters. Or even a member of the crew, helping out backstage.
Chiaki was offering him everything he wanted. Love, friendship, understanding, and a chance to fully step into the role of a protagonist. Working together with Chiaki, who was definitely the hero, would qualify him as love interest at least. If not deutrougonist. Nagito should have been suspicious, distrustful. Life had never given him anything for free. And his luck had always valued his material health as opposed to his emotional stability. But...it was also true that his luck hadn't been so extreme recently. Perhaps this would break it forever? Or perhaps it had switched priorities because of his approaching death.
He was so desperate. So very desperate for an anchor to hold onto. Nagito Komaeda's life had always been a maelstrom. A whirlwind of chaos. He needed someone who could be there for him. A stable presence. True it could have been that brown haired reserve course student...Hinata-kun? He wore the same stench as Nagito. That of a miserable commoner. However he could also feel a tremendous Hope slumbering within him. It was very confusing.
No, it was better this way. Chiaki and him. She would conquer the world with her Hope. And Nagito would get a front row seat.
Nagito again felt tears stream down his face. This time they were entirely of joy.
"Chiaki, you truly are an extraordinary girl. Not only for your exceptional talent...but as a person. Yes. I truly believe it. Your vision of the world will help shape the future. Of this I have no doubt. Like Jesus or Abraham or Buddha or Mohammed, you will change the world completely. Your the Ultimate Hope I was looking for, you carry it inside your heart. You'll use it to light up the world and I will get to stand by your side and help you along." Nagito said. He stepped forward and gently grabbed the back of her head and her chin with her hands. Tilting her head up, before gently placing a kiss on her lips.
"If anyone was to rescue me from my weaknesses. It'll be you Chiaki. No weak, pitiful Despair in the world can beat a Hope as powerful as yours. You'll crush it all! And together with our classmates you...we...can do anything at all." Nagito said. His eyes shined with Hope, but not a Hope strong enough it looped back into Despair. Today, he remembered what it was like to have Hope for himself.
"Ha ha ha. I will try not to be a burden on you with any more injuries. But I am prone to such things. I think...as long as we are both alive everything will be fine." Nagito said. One day she would have to learn about how his brain was rotting away. But he didn't want to burden her with that. Not quite yet.
This...this was where his prologue had ended. Chapter 1 starterd. A new Chapter devoted to shining Hope and a future of endless possibilities. Hope was simply amazing. It seemed like it could rescue even him. Nagito didn't know what Chiaki wanted yet, what her Hope was. But he knew it was extraordinary. And one day that Hope would come to dominate the world. Nagito would do anything to serve that Hope. Maybe he would even help it come to pass. In the end though he knew that she didn't need him.
The Messiah doesn't need a savior herself, does she?
