It had been a bit since he had starterd up an account on an MMO. He didn't have the time investment to throw himself into that really. Still this was one that was rated highly by even his snobbish otaku online friends, so he should at least give it a try.
He made a character that looked vaguely like himself using character customization. Then selected a character class, a Mage, and went in. After doing the tutorial and some basic quests he found himself really getting into it. The world had quite the interesting magic system and world, it was all and all a clever twist on the genre. Best of all it seemed more RP oriented then grindy nonsense. The quests all felt important.
Still he was going to need a group. This MMO had quite the sophisticated solo mode interestingly enough, but better loot was restricted to the Group quests and dungeons. He would need at least one more soul to take on a low level dungeon he had his eye on. Apparently it yielded great loot for a mage of his level. So Suzaku headed to a quest hub city, one that looked like a combination of a Roman city and a medieval fortress, and sent out the indication that he was "looking for group.
Now he just had to wait.

This MMO was incredibly fun and sophisticated and Chiaki had been playing the game for a couple weeks now, and had been playing since early this morning. Of course, she took a nap at one point, seeing as she tended to fall asleep especially when she wasn't playing games, but now she was refreshed and ready to conquer the world. She'd already been promoted to Princess Titania of the Ramian Empire in the game, seeing as she had been one of the strongest players. However, it wasn't fun when all the missions were incredibly easy due to her character's overpowered stats. So, Chiaki went and completely created a new player. GamerChi2100 was her new name. Before she was Nanagito, where she claimed the name of Princess Titania. Now she was just starting out again.
The problem was, she didn't want to have the same thing happen over and over again, repaying games were fun because of different ways one could do it. Last time she didn't do much group work, as she normally went solo. However, when a notification popped up in the great safe zone people started with, which said 'looking for group', Chiaki tilted her head and considered the option. She didn't know who it was, but it was someone who enjoyed games like she did. Perhaps she could have some fun with a fellow gamer.
Chiaki moved her character which looked a lot like her, though she was disappointed when she couldn't wear a hoodie. She still wore green and a skirt, with shoulder length hair. She wore basic armors given at the beginning of the game, and approached the person with the notification.
GamerChi2100: You're looking for a group? Could I join?
There. Hopefully the guy would agree. These games were a lot of fun to Chiaki because the world was made up of people who cared and loved games, even if it wasn't as much as she did. Even still, it was wonderful to know there were so many people who loved games.

Someone responded to his call for a group huh? GamerChi2100. An avatar with beginning level equipment. True the dungeon could probably be taken with someone of his level and someone of hers, it wasn't to difficult of a dungeon and it just barely qualified as a two man in all honesty.
FanboyTaka11: Sure. We're going to a dungeon in the woods just by here. It's a fairy mound type. Offers great loot for a mage, and has enough gold for the taking that it's worth anybodies efforts. I'll lead the way. Follow
Suzaku, began heading off. Hopefully "GamerChi2100" knew at least the basics, or this could be a serious headache. Honestly he didn't have a lot of online friends that he viewed as peers. Most of his bonds were formed for fairly pragmatic reasons. He followed creators he enjoyed and for some reason people followed him because apparently they liked what he did or whatever. Then there were the "friendships" he made because he had money and the others had good product, collectors materials he could jam inside his crowded room. The few friends he did make out of having the same passion tended to come and go. "Real life" always called them away and made it difficult to keep in contact. Often they just drifted apart. He had allies on some forums sure, but they were fickle ones. They were likely to start hating him if he disagreed with who "best girl" was or whether the new anime/manga/novel/episode sucked or not or what the fuck ever.
No man was an island, but he was close. Hopefully he would have some fun times with "Gamerchi2100" before she or whoever was behind the screen disappeared to him forever.

Oh, he accepted the request. This should be fun. She wasn't normally in groups like this. Maybe she could have a gamer friend. Well, if this guy wasn't very good, she could teach him how to do things. Of course her equipment wasn't the greatest, but she was skilled and was up for the challenge. That didn't discredit her skills in general. She wasn't the ultimate gamer for nothing. She had yet to lose on this game, and it was a bit boring, which was why she started this new profile, to get a fresh start, and then maybe it'd be more fun. She was also trying out a different build. Before she was more based on strength and defense, but this time she was going for speed and support. That's why she was excited that she had someone searching for a group accept her despite her lower level equipment. She didn't want people to judge her by her armor, she wanted nice good people on her team.
GamerChi2100: How long have you been playing?
She thought it would be good to get to know her partner at least a little bit. That was how people got to be friend right? She was sure that was right. She wanted to be friends. She wanted to know more people who played games like this and played together. This was just her next conquest and if she made a friend, well she would probably continue playing after she got a ton of experience and stuff like that, but if not, then she had already mastered the game and it was onto the next game. Hopefully, she could find cool people. She hoped that FanboyTaka11 would be her friend, and hopefully they could be friends forever and span across several games. Alas, that was a dream. When her adventure started perhaps she would run into him in 'real life' and then maybe they would be partners, but for now, she just had to do her best to build up social links with him.

Suzaku continued towards the path on the dungeon. Looking at the pop up character information, she seemed to be a character focused on speed and support, though it was still early days for her. That could definitely come in handy. He had enough magical firepower to handle the creatures in this dungeon in terms of damage, but getting some buffs or healing would ease things a bit.
Then she asked him a question. "How long have you been playing?" Hah. A broad question. This game in particular? Or gaming in general? He decided to answer with the former.
FanboyTaka11: Not that long. Just a few hours. I take it your new as well?
This was always the hardest part of MMO's. The social interaction. Sure he was better at it behind a computer screen then for most cases but, he was still pretty rough around the edges. Even now he was a bit worried that she would find out what an utter loser he was and reject him. His old classmates words still stung. Probably because they were all, absolutely correct.
In a few more minutes they would leave the safe areas and arrive where monsters spawned. Until then they could talk more casually then this. He supposed.

Honestly, while Chiaki loved talking to her classmates, she always found it harder to act in the moment when around others as opposed to games. Most of the time in a game one was prompted with choices and in life she would choose them, but in games like this she had to come up with her own responses. However, she wasn't Chiaki, she was GamerChi2100, and she had to come up with the way she would play this character. Her old character who was totally awesome had gotten boring and everyone just asked her for advice and things like that, which she didn't mind, but she didn't feel like any of them were... real. This guy seemed more real to her, but she didn't really know much about him. Maybe it was because he thought she was a beginner and didn't treat her like a veteran player who knew so many things and everyone wanted to pair with because she was really good at the game.
GamerChi2100: To this character, yeah. I started recently, but I haven't played this kind of character very often. Honestly, I'm not really good with groups, but don't worry, I will still do my very best!
Oh, she really hoped this didn't drive him away. She was just being truthful, and the description of the type of character she was said they were something like a 'paragon of good' and good people didn't lie… right? Yes, that was how it had to be, and Chiaki hated lying anyways. She just hoped she didn't do one of those 'vomit too much information' sorts of things.
GamerChi2100: I haven't been on group missions very much even in other games. It's hard to meet people like this sometimes, but it's… different than people in real life. Yet… its the same. Haha.
Talking about vomiting and just spewing everywhere despite it. She was nervous, if you couldn't tell, and while talking to people face to face she was more shy, she did feel more comfortable in a game, because she could just stop playing it and give the excuse she had other games to play.
