Asago was scanning over the books and writing down upon her notepad, scratches could be heard and a few faint eraser sounds came from the outset. Her mind was focused, her red eyes scanning every page. She pushed away the white hair that fell in front of her face as she looked over a map of Japan and its ports.
So... Operation Downfall... How would I work it out on the American side of things? She asked herself as she looked over the map and looked back at her notepad. Projected death count on the U.S. side would be half a million, but can I subtract it? I could potentially lessen the casualties, but how can I lessen the casualties? Pages could be heard moving as Asago moved to a map with a picture of Kyushu.
They said that it can be used as a stepping stone and a base for an attack on Japan. If so, would a chemical attack be useful for that situation? Asago frowned, At that time neither Japan or America had signed the Geneva Convention so chemical attacks are fair game on both sides. Of course, I can add- She looked over her notes again.
Let's play pretend then, I add in the Allies. That means that America should probably shy away from chemical weapons. But now, Japan can use them... She sighed at that thought, That wouldn't work.
Remember Asago, nobody knew that the atomic bombs would be...that bad. But let's say the Manhattan Project didn't exist during that time. No... It definitely would but let's say that it didn't, Asago frowned once again, ...This isn't good at all. I keep trying to figure out how it would work, but... She sighed as she closed the books and leaned back in her chair.
"Nuclear weaponry is basically a one hit kill. An easy weapon...but sadly, it costs too many lives. I wonder if either side realized that fact," Asago sighed as she talked to herself looked at the book about the battles in World War II, "Then again, it wasn't tested on human subjects so that means that nobody knew what was going to happen." She closed the book and opened another book.
Okay, let's look for another war for me to review...
