For small creatures such as we,
the vastness is bearable only through love.
the vastness is bearable only through love.
"That's not completely true," Root corrected Noriko, because he just couldn't stand by and let her be so wrong, even if the lesson she was trying to teach was a good one, "You can see stars while its bright out. The sun is a star. You can see tons of stars during the day time if you use a telescope as well. Stars are light, the sun is light, therefore you can see stars at any time no matter how bright, and sometimes your eyes cannot handle the brightness. Now if you were to say that one can only see dim light when surrounded by darkness, it would make more sense. For if you are next to a bright light the dim is outshone and harder to see." She was right in the sense of 'only when you despair can you truly see hope' but her analogy was too wrong for Root's taste. She had to get her facts right. Root just had to educate those who didn't know this information, not to prove his superiority, but because it bugged him when people were wrong, especially when he did know they actually really were smart, even if they weren't as smart as him.
"There is nothing we can't take back if we can turn back time," Root muttered to himself, though he didn't know if Noriko would've heard it. It sort of slipped out but he wasn't going to take it back. After all, that was his plan. And none of this would matter.
However, when Noriko asked him to keep the whole 'her acting like an adult' thing a secret, Root couldn't help but laugh. That's what she was worried about? Being considered an adult? Root wished people would consider him more of an adult more often. He felt like everyone thought he was just a stupid little boy who didn't know anything. Sure his maturity lacked in some areas, such as his emotional awareness of himself and of others, but he really did try to be like an adult. He tried to be mature. Then again, with his leading role model of adulthood being his father now, he didn't really have much to really compare it to. However, the fact Nori could be like this, to talk to him about such things and actually make him feel a bit better, was a huge deal. Especially since he was rude to Nori a lot. He'd been like that since he lost his mom right before he got to the academy.
"Right. You mean the lack of a personality and sex appeal right? Because then your statement would make sense," Root said, going right back to biting the hand that was feeling him. Well it wasn't like he was used to being nice to anyone besides Mariko. It would be a long walk before he was ready to be nice to others, though he… he was going to try like he said. To not be so angry. He really would, and that wasn't just thinking something. It was something he'd work on, even if these people wouldn't be the same in the timeline he wanted to live in, because… he cared about these people in this timeline which was really fucking with his mind. Should he go back in time and save his mom and abandon those he came to care about or live with his mother dead due to his own actions, to never see her smile ever again because of his actions? He just didn't know right now. And that was scary as fuck.
